Waukon baseball team beats everyone but Mother Nature in past week, sweeps doubleheader at Crestwood, wins at Turkey Valley

Mother Nature was the only one the Waukon baseball team couldn’t finish in front of this past week, as the Indians won three games they were able to complete early in the week but had their final two games of the week claimed by weather, including a Thursday, June 4 home game with New Hampton that was suspended in the fourth inning and is scheduled to be completed June 23, beginning at 5 p.m. The Tribe’s Friday, June 5 non-conference date at Cascade was also postponed due to wet field conditions, with a make-up date yet to be determined at this point.

The three games the diamond Tribe was able to complete all ended up in the win column in fairly convincing fashion against Upper Iowa Conference opponents. The Indians first swept a road doubleheader at Crestwood Monday, June 1 by scores of 12-1 in five innings and 19-3, before picking up another road victory at Turkey Valley Wednesday, June 3 by a 13-4 final result.

The Indians were next scheduled to host a varsity doubleheader against North Fayette Valley Monday, June 8, complete a suspended May 26 home game with Clayton Ridge Tuesday, June 9, and host Kee for a varsity reserve/varsity match-up Wednesday, June 10 and then a varsity doubleheader against Dubuque Senior Thursday, June 11. That busy week will then end at Starmont for a varsity reserve/varsity twinbill Friday, June 12. The diamond Tribe will then play two varsity games at New Hampton Monday, June 15, host Anamosa Tuesday, June 16 for a varsity reserve/varsity date, play another such series at South Winneshiek Wednesday, June 17 and also the same at MFL/MarMac Thursday, June 18 before playing at Riceville for another varsity reserve/varsity doubleheader in a rare Saturday date for the diamond Tribe, June 20.
