Waukon Corn Days will feature variety of activities August 14-15; American Pride Parade celebrates 250th birthday of America

Waukon Corn Days is a celebration of agricultural heritage and community, and has a long-standing history in Waukon extending back to what some may remember as “Threshing Days”. The Waukon Chamber of Commerce looks forward to hosting the annual celebration again in 2026 with events starting Friday, August 14 and continuing into Saturday, August 15. This event also encourages local shopping with Waukon “Crazy Days” specials, discounts and deals available at local retailers (see Page 28 in this week’s edition of The Standard). West Street SW, between Main Street and First Avenue SW, will be closing at 12 Noon Friday, August 14 for preparation and hosting of the event.
Corn Days events will kick off Friday morning with Crazy Days sidewalk sales in downtown Waukon. Folks are invited to gather for a community meal from 4-8 p.m. Friday on West Street SW in Waukon. The menu includes a brat or hot dog, bag of chips,watermelon, all you can eat sweet corn and a bottle of water for only $10. The Kidz Zone will be open behind Waukon State Bank during that time as well, featuring A&J Bouncy House with wrist bands for $5. In addition to the Kidz Zone, there will also be Balloons by Kevin and a B&B Pedal Tractor Pull, in addition to caricature drawings available.
Uptown Jazz will serenade the dinner crowd from 4:30-8 p.m. once again this year as well. Totally Rolled Ice Cream and Tiny Tea Trailer will also be available Friday from 4-8 p.m., and DJ Steve Hill will be playing tunes at Goodfellas from 8 p.m.-12 Midnight.
Saturday, August 15, Crazy Days sales continue at local retailers, and WW Homestead Dairy’s Annual Car show is also scheduled to be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. White Haus Social will be hosting a Summer Market of local vendors at its location just north of Waukon from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as well.
In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, an American Pride Parade will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, beginning at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds. Parade entries can line up at 9:45 a.m. at the Fairgrounds, and the parade will then travel south from the Fairgrounds down Allamakee Street to the stoplight intersection, taking a right and traveling west on Main Street to its intersection with Second Street at the Post Office and First Presbyterian Church before dispersing. As the parade theme of American Pride may suggest, parade entries should be decorated with patriotism in red, white and blue decor.
A Garden Tractor Pull, sponsored by LXN Custom Services, will also take place at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds, following the parade. The pull event will take place between the ball diamonds and the Fairgrounds grandstands, with the grandstands not being open to the public.
