Carlyn Wacker of Waukon and Nick Lechtenberg of Elgin announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. The couple plans to exchange vows July 11 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Ray and Kerry Wacker of Waukon. She is a 2005 graduate of Waukon Senior High School, a 2009 graduate of Upper Iowa University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education and Graphic Design, and a 2015 graduate of Morningside College with a Professional Educator Master’s Degree. She  is currently employed as a K-5 Art and TAG teacher for the Allamakee Community School District and has her own design business, Font and Foto.
The groom-elect is the son of Craig and Jane Rood of Elgin and the late Joe Lechtenberg of Postville. He is a 2003 graduate of Postville High School. He is currently employed on his family farm, C&J Rood Farms, and also has his own farming operation, Lechtenberg Farms.

Bobbie Jo and Tom Martin of Maxwell announce the birth of their daughter, Amelia Jean Martin, June 4, 2015. She weighed 7 lbs., 2 ozs. and measured 19-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Madeline (4), and a brother, Henry (2).
Grandparents are Robin and Larry Harmon of New Albin. Great-grandmother is  Marilyn (Bob) Zezulka of New Albin.

Nate and Hallie Evans of New Albin announce the birth of their son, Asa Gray Evans, June 15, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 8 lbs., 2.4 ozs. and measured 21-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins two siblings, Noah (7) and Finn (3).
Grandparents are Tom and Becky Evans of Madison, WI and Dennis and Bettye Hite of Cedar Rapids. Great-grandmother is Connie Bratten of Colorado Springs, CO.

Sara and Cameron Berges of Waukon announce the birth of their daughter, Jocelyn Rae Berges, June 15, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 7 lbs., 11.8 ozs. and measured 19-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Emma (2).
Grandparents are Ken and Marcia Venables of Ottumwa, Ron Berges of Ottumwa and Lyn and Danette Wood of Dallas, TX. Great-grandparents are Jim and Elaine Poland of Carthage, MO and Raymond and Nancy Berges of Julesburg, CO.

Jon and Amanda Bredeweg of Luana announce the birth of their son, Hunter Jon Bredeweg, June 15, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 6 lbs., 10.8 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a brother, Evan (2).
Grandparents are Jeanette Bredeweg of Linton, IN and Elwin and Laurie Dirksen of Elgin. Great-grandparents are Joan Welch of Monona and Orlan Landsgard of West Union.

Jodi and Jesse Gaherty of Cedar Falls announce the birth of their daughter, Jayln Mary Jean Gaherty, May 22, 2015 at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo. She weighed 9 lbs., 8 ozs. and measured 22 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a brother, Jayce (6), and a sister, Jayah (2-1/2).
Grandparents are Don and Linda Kruse of Waukon and Terry and the late Sharon Gaherty of Dubuque. Great-grandmother is Donna Kruse of Bristow.

Jake and Jessica Wilke of Monona announce the birth of their daughter, Charlotte Rose Wilke, June 9, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of her birth.
Grandparents are Mark and Kam Fohey of Monona, Dave and Becky Wilke of Elkader and Jill Winkoski of Hudson, WI. Great-grandparents are Tom and Mary Jo Wilke of Monona, Judy Fohey of Pewaukee, WI and Mary and Fred Winkoski of Hudson, WI.

Amber Jackson of Waukon and Andrew Sandvick of Norwalk, OH were joined in marriage April 11, 2015 by Pastor Eric Partin at the Holley By The Sea Beach House in Navarre, FL.
The bride is the daughter of Dean and Mary Jackson of Waukon. She is a 2004 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 2008 graduate of Buena Vista University. She is currently employed as a business analyst for H2 Performance Consulting Corp.
The groom is the son of Jerry and Karen Sandvick of Navarre, FL and Mollie and John Wetherill of Norwalk, OH. He is a 2000 graduate of Norwalk High School and is currently employed by Publix Super Markets.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length white A-line chiffon halter dress with a lace-up back and crossed straps. She carried a hand-made bouquet of white roses, green poms, and purple carnations and alstroemerias.

Arden and Joyce Hanson of Waukon will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 28. Arden Hanson and Joyce Snitker were married June 28, 1955 at Salem Reform Church, rural Waukon.
The couple has six children, Karen (Bill) Regan, Bev (Brad) Krambeer, Steve (Pat) Hanson, David (Barb) Hanson, Debra (Bart) Lodge and Lisa (Jeff) Kelm. They have ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Hazel Sorum Larsgaard of Fairview, SD will be celebrating her 100th birthday  June 25. An open house will be held Saturday, June 27 from 2-4 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fairview.  This celebration of her centennial birthday will be hosted by her family.
The governor of South Dakota has also proclaimed June 25, 2015 as Hazel Larsgaard Day in the state of South Dakota.
Hazel’s great-grandparents were early settlers of the Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church area in Allamakee County. She and her late husband, Roy Larsgaard, enjoyed many visits over the years with her Sorum relatives in the Waukon-Decorah area.
