Northeast Iowa and the Lansing area will be featured on "Fishing the Midwest" television the weekend of February 12-13 in most markets throughout the Midwest. The show was taped in October of 2010. Bob Jensen, host of "Fishing the Midwest", fished with Terry Fitzpatrick and Jim Hunt, both of whom are area anglers.

The Allamakee County Planning and Zoning Commission will be holding an initial planning and review session of the County Comprehensive Plan Thursday, February 17 in the Community Room of the Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank in Waukon. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and is scheduled to run approximately two hours.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MN announced Monday, February 7 the 2011 winners of the Morgan Wootten Award for Lifetime Achievement in Coaching High School Basketball. The annual award, one for boys basketball and one for girls basketball, is named after Morgan Wootten, one of two coaches enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame that exclusively coached high school basketball.

The 2011 Allamakee County Dairy Days Banquet will be held Saturday, March 26 at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. The meal will be served from 7-8:30 p.m., with the program starting at 8 p.m. The annual celebration recognizes the importance of the dairy industry in Allamakee County and the contributions dairy families make to this important industry.

The Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) District 2 Office and the Iowa State Patrol (ISP) are asking for assistance from ice fishing anglers on the Mississippi River parking along Iowa 26 in Allamakee County, between Lansing and New Albin.
