Barbara Spalding

Barbara R. (Knutson) Spalding, 73, of Cedar Rapids died Sunday, March 9, 2014. Memorial services will be held June 7, 2014 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing.
Barbara was born April 23, 1940 in Waukon, the daughter of Alex and Margaret (Kehr) Knutson. She married Nyle A. Spalding June 13, 1964 in Lansing. Barbara was a first grade teacher. She graduated from Luther College with a BA degree in elementary education and taught in Clear Lake, Ankeny and the Cedar Rapids School Systems. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She loved reading, gardening, spending time with her family and she made the best cinnamon rolls in the world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving is her husband of 49 years, Nyle A. Spalding; her children, Amy (Michael) McCormick and their children, Kelton and Finnegan McCormick, all of Boulder, CO and Sara A. (Daniel) Miller and their children, Ava and Max Miller, all of Oswego, IL; a sister, Helen (Norbert) Wurtzel of Eau Claire, WI; her sisters-in-law, Maxyne (Bob) Gillice of Arvada, CO and Paulette (Arnie) Clare of Lake City, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
