Evelyn McClurg

Evelyn Eleanor Ogren McClurg passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, WI. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 3 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, WI. Al Ogren and Ralph McClurg officiated, with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery.
Evelyn was born February 6, 1919 in Churdan to Victor and Mathilda Engberg Ogren.  She lived most of her childhood in the Churdan area and them married Mahlon Robert McClurg January 2, 1942. Together they farmed in the Jefferson area until March of 1955, when they moved to a farm at Moorland.
In 1958 they moved to a rented farm near Gays Mills, WI. In that same year they bought a small farm and Mahlon began selling insurance. Evelyn was a homemaker and mother all of her married life. They moved to Viroqua, WI in 1966 where they eventually retired.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Robert McClurg. She is survived by three children, David (Kathy) of Viroqua, WI, Susan (Ronald) Leeser of Lancaster, WI and Neal (Heidi) of Wells, MN; 11 grandchildren, Beth (Tim) Lee, Kent (Renee Stroh) McClurg, Amy (Bill) Arbuckle, Dawn (Jared) Long, Rebecca Leeser Andree, Kirk Leeser, Travis (Amy) Leeser, Brett (Teresa) Leeser, Dan (Shawna) McClurg, Ty (Jessica) McClurg and Kristen (Jon) Friday; 23 great-grandchildren; her brother, Merle (Georgia) Ogren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Evelyn’s name to the Zambia Mission Fund, P.O. Box 3393, Abilene, TX, 79604-3393.
