John Lenz

John Henry Lenz, 87, passed away April 7, 2012 in Payson, AZ. Services were held at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, AZ Friday, April 13 to celebrate his life.
John was born April 14, 1924 in Lansing. June 10, 1944 he married Helga Schellhammer and together they reared two children. They lived on a farm in Iowa until 1964. Moving to Scottsdale, AZ, John obtained a job with Motorola, from where he retired after 20 years of service.
Those who knew him knew the two things he enjoyed most were fishing and playing cards. Even when no one else was catching fish, he could figure out how to get them to bite. As for card playing, he was very lucky at just about any card game he played.
John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helga; his daughter, Susan; three grandchildren, Brian, Gary Wayne II and Stacy; and five great-grandchildren. His son, Gary Wayne, preceded him in death January 28, 2008.
A better father and husband no one could have asked for. He was a very special person who will be missed greatly.
