Kathleen Smith

Kathleen Janice Smith, 65, of Luana died Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Postville Good Samaritan Center, Postville, following a brief illness. Memorial Services were held Monday, October 26 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, with the Rev. Larry Suntken officiating. Inurnment followed in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.
Kathleen was born May 5, 1944 in Postville to Leslie and Jessie (Schultz) Smith. She graduated from MFL High School and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.
Kathleen taught the foreign languages of German and Russian for many years. She was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, the outdoors, and being around her cats and dogs. Kathleen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her special friend, Raletta Thomas of Luana; brother, Eric Smith of St. Olaf and cousin, Nola (Norbert) Palmer of Waukon. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Leighton Smith, John Smith and Richard Smith.
