Lawrence Higdon

Lawrence “Larry” Allen Higdon, 71, of Dugger, IN passed away at 10 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan, IN. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Newkirk’s Funeral Home in Dugger, IN. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. There will be no interment. Cremation is scheduled. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Larry was born September 27, 1942 in Owensboro, KY, the son of Raymond Higdon and Therese Barr Hidden. He was a retired boiler maker from Local #374, a Marine Corps Veteran, and a member of the Dugger Masonic Lodge #721, the Scottish Rite and the Sullivan Shrine.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Faye Higdon and Claudette Zoglmann. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Norma Jean Rouse Higdon, whom he married June 10, 1978; four sons, Jeff (Traci) Higdon and Mike (Deborah) Higdon, all of Portland, OR, Joe (Linda) Delaney of Dubuque, and William (Kelly) Delaney of Waukon; one daughter, Tammy (Kenny) Reed of Portland, OR; four brothers, Bill (Dean) Higdon of Tennessee, Bob (Franciel) Higdon of Harford, KY, Joe (Nancy) Higdon of Cedarburg, WI and Leon (Rachel) Higdon of Owensboro, KY; two sisters, Dottie (Ron) Coomes of Owensboro, KY and Doris (Gary) Robichaud of San Francisco, CA; 10 grandchildren, Heather, Ryder, Slater, Haley, Abigail, Kate, Jack, Quinton, Alyssa and Ryan; and a brother in-law, Joe Zoeglmann of Owensboro, KY.
