Letter to the Editor: Still waiting for answers

To the Editor:
I would like to commend our volunteer fire department. We have a great team of firefighters who risk their lives every time they put on their gear and climb onto those trucks. I thank them.
When a company relocates and gets a 10 year tax rebate, does this amount to over a half million dollars, then wanting more, that would go a long way for our new fire station. Did they bring in new jobs? Did I hear that Allamakee has the highest rate of unemployment in the state?
Safety and noise control - were these considered before allowing a trucking company to locate close to residential homes, children walking and riding bikes to school, retired citizens wanting quiet, just anyone wanting a good night of sleep, not a 3:45 a.m. wake up. The time is different depending on their schedule.
I know tax dollars are important, but there should be some consideration. It should not matter. The quantity of those dollars, dollars which should mean the same for all.
If two parties are in the same situation and one party is treated differently than the other party, would this be considered discrimination? Does the quantity of dollars make it different for each?
Were there laws ignored, lies spoken? Was there respect for the one party? Why was it different for each party? Still waiting for answers.
