Margaret J. Kruger, 90, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids, died there Saturday, October 26, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 31 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev. William B. Harnish. The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 30 at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was born May 5, 1923, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Klein) Duvel. October 10, 1940 she was united in marriage to Vernon C. Kruger. Margaret enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, old country music, shopping and cooking.
Survivors include her children, Dale Kruger of Roseville, MN, Dean (Linda) Kruger of Newhall and Mary (Bob) Swalley of Rosemont, MN; her grandchildren, Adam Swalley, Neil (Katy) Kruger, Nick (Ashley) Kruger, and Sara and Maggie Kruger; her great-grandchildren, Jovie, Anna and Livi Kruger; and a brother, Orville (Laura) Duvel of Waukon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; a daughter-in-law, Rose Kruger; a sister, Arlene Kugel; her brothers, Lloyd “Tim”, Irvin and Normal Duvel; and good friend, Harlan Marten.
Mothers are the glue that holds a family together and God has a special section in heaven for them. So take your seat, Mom, you’ve earned it and so much more. We’ll all miss you so very much.
