Mary Lau

Mary E. (Martelle) Lau, 74, of Dubuque passed away at 8:47 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center.
Services were held Thursday December 27, 2012 at St. Anne’s-St Joseph’s Church in Harpers Ferry with Rev.  John Moser officiating. Burial followed in Paint Rock Cemetery, Harpers Ferry.
Mary was born March 26, 1938 in Harpers Ferry, the daughter of Napoleon and Llillian (Crowley) Martelle. She married James C. Lau November 28, 1959 at St. Anne’s Church, Harpers Ferry. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Key West, IA.
Mary enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and neighbor who will be dearly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim; three sons, Randy (Peggy) Lau of Winona, MN, Russell (Barbara) Lau of Dubuque and Brian (fiance Val Voshell) Lau, of Dubuque; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great grandchildren; one brother, James (Marlys) Martelle; a sister, Helen (Martin) Delaney; brothers- and sisters-in-law Don and Arlene Lau, Dave and Pat Lau and Davene Lau; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rita (Daryl) Larson.
In lieu of flowers a Mary Lau memorial fund has been established.
