John Zischke

Beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, Steven John Zischke, passed away peacefully August 4, 2013 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL, after a courageous  two-month battle with cancer.
Steven was born January 3, 1956 in La Crosse, WI, the son of  Donald and  Elizabeth (Lyons) Zischke. He attended Central High School, Western Technical College, both of La Crosse, WI, and went on to graduate from University of Wisconsin - Stout, Menomonie.  He was a long-time employee of Menard’s as a contractor manager. He loved NASCAR and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing bass guitar with local bands.
Steve and Sandra Klingborg were united in marriage  July 23,1994 in Moline, IL.  Together they had one daughter, Laura Beth, who brought him much pride and joy. In addition to his wife, Sandy, and daughter, Laura, he is survived by two step-daughters, Melissa (Fred) Moenck  and Molly (James) Hughes;   three grandchildren, David, Riley and Sophie; his mother, Betty Zischke; and three sisters, Pam Chenier, Ann (Jeff) Clark, both of La Crosse, WI, and Lisa (Steve) Jorgenson of Rochester, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steven was preceded in death by his father, Don Zischke,  September 8, 1994.  
Visitation and funeral services were Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Cremation followed services.
