Amberique and Mariah Winters of Waukon announce the birth of their son, Zakiah Nathanial Winters, August 13, 2015 at Veteran Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 8 lbs., 7 ozs. at the time of his birth. He joins two sisters, Lailah (3-1/2) and Indica (1).

Tyler and Mandy Halverson of Waukon announce the birth of their daughter, Hadalyn Ray Halverson, August 11, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 7 lbs., 10 ozs. and measured 19-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins two siblings, Harper (3-1/2) and Havanna (1-1/2).
Grandparents are Al and Sandy Halverson of Waukon, Brian McCarthy of Dubuque and Lori McCarthy of Fredericksburg. Great-grandparents are Ron and Carol Opfer, the late Harlan “Herky” Herman, Virginia and the late Lynn Halverson and the late Roger and Norma Johnson, all of Waukon, and Dennis and the late Marlene McCarthy of Dubuque.

Candace Berger of Waukon and Spencer Duncan of Manchester announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows August 29 in Prairie du Chien, WI.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Rusty and Cynthia Berger of Waukon. She is a 2007 graduate of Waukon Senior High School, a 2011 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Chemistry and a 2014 graduate of Mercy College of Health Sciences with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She is currently employed as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Members of Waukon High School’s Class of 1961 will meet Friday, August 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Gus and Tony’s in Waukon for a social time.

Descendants of Earl and Marion Miller will gather for a family reunion Sunday, September 6 at 12 noon in the Community Room of Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Waukon. Those planning to attend are asked to bring their own table service and a dish to share.
 

The 77th annual reunion of the descendants of Thom and Anna Cowell will be held in the Community Room at Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Waukon Sunday, August 16. The Ethel (Cowell) Odegard family will be this year’s hosts.
The meal will start at 12 noon. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a dish to pass for the potluck and table service. Drinks will be provided.
After lunch, those in attendance will be asked to tell stories beginning with “I remember...” Those who wish to write their stories down for someone else to read aloud are welcome to do so.

The annual Kostman-Cooper family reunion will be held Sunday, August 23 at the Frankville Fire Department in Frankville. A potluck meal will begin at noon. Come early for coffee, and bring pictures and memories to share. Contact Caryl Leiran at 563-864-7751 for more information.
 

Brian and Brittany Rosenthal of Cambridge, WI announce the birth of their son, Owen Micheal Rosenthal, July 8, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. He weighed 7 lbs., 13 ozs. and measured 20 inches in length at the time of his birth.
Grandparents are Duane and Robin Martin of Cambridge, WI and Jerry and Terri Rosenthal of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Great-grandparents are Carol and the late Lloyd Martin of Waukon, Don and Millie Noyce of Oregon, WI and Jerry Nystrom of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Emily Kathryn Hannum Garrett and Kenneth Damian Williams were united in marriage March 27, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA. The bride is the daughter of Kathy Hannum and James Garrett of Waukon. The groom is the son of Beverly and the late Kenneth Williams of Philadelphia, PA.
After processing through downtown Philadelphia, friends and family gathered in the courtyard of the Philadelphia City Hall. Emily’s sister-in-law, Shata Stucky, stood by her and Kenny’s friend, Corey McMillan, was his witness.  They were married by their friend, Joseph Cohn.
The wedding was followed by a banquet.  An Iowa celebration was held May 23 at the Waukon Golf and Country Club.
Emily and Kenny are making their home in downtown Philadelphia. Emily recently graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and is beginning her medical residency at Pennsylvania Hospital. Kenny is an attorney working as a public defender for the City of Philadelphia.
 

Matt Welsh and Sarah Kruse announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows Friday, August 14 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George. A reception and dance will be held following the ceremony at the Worthington Event Center.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Steven Wm. and Darla Kruse of George. She is a graduate of George-Little Rock Senior High School and the Minnesota School of Beauty. She is currently employed at Village Northwest and Personal Touch Hairstyling.
The groom-elect is the son of Joseph and Darcy Welsh of Waukon. He is a graduate of Waukon Senior High School and Iowa State University. He is currently employed as a soil conservationist with the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
The couple will make their home in George.
