Stanley Bahr

Stanley C. Bahr, 67, of Caledonia, MN died Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at his home with his wife, Linda, by his side. A Funeral Mass was said Monday, September 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia, MN with Fr. Matt Wagner and Fr. Greg Leif officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia, MN.

Stanley Charles Bahr was born February 13, 1955 in Waukon to Charles and Helen (Miller) Bahr. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Stan attended Ludlow #1 Country School through the third grade, and then graduated from Waukon High School in 1974. July 3, 1976, he married the love of his life, Linda Gruber, and together they built a home and family in Caledonia, MN.

Larry Evans

Larry Bruce Evans, age 80, of the Solway Community in Knoxville, TN passed away Saturday morning, September 17, 2022 at Parkwest Medical Center (Knoxville). He was surrounded by his family as he was welcomed into the arms of his Savior and Lord.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 21 at the Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel in Knoxville, TN with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Clay Harrington officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Child Advocacy Center of the Ninth Judicial District of Tennessee, www.kidsfirsttn.org.

Larry was born October 16, 1941 in Waukon. Of the four brothers, he was the second oldest. Larry played all sports throughout his formative school years and was a talented athlete. He was an avid golfer and loved bowling. For many years, Larry served as a walking score keeper for the Knoxville Open on the Nike Tour.

Inez Watson

Inez Mae Watson, 90, of Postville died Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union. Funeral Service was held Thursday, September 15 at Community Presbyterian Church in Postville with Pastor Karla Johnson as the officiant. Burial followed at the Postville Cemetery in Postville.

Inez was born August 26, 1932 to George and Bertha (Segrist) Ewing in Postville. She attended country schools in Allamakee County.

For over 46 years, Inez worked as a Veterinary Assistant at the Postville Veterinary Clinic in Postville. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Postville Public Library for many years. Inez enjoyed playing cards with the card club, spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.

Kathryn Van Brocklin

Kathryn M. Van Brocklin, 83, of Lansing passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Thornton Manor surrounded by her loving family. A Christian Mass will be held Saturday, September 17 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing.

A visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the service at the church. Following graveside services, a luncheon and visitation will take place at the New Albin Community Center.

William Howes

William “Bill” Howes, passed away September 10, 2022 at his home in Brownsville, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 16 at St. Patrick’s Church, Brownsville, MN. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15 at St Patrick’s Church, Breza Hall, Brownsville, MN. Prayer Service will be at 4 p.m., and visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday morning prior to services at the church.

Bill was born August 26, 1939 in Waukon to Raymond and Cecelia (Teeling) Howes. He was married to Jeanette (Jan) Bakewell July 23, 1960.

Earl Haas

After spending his last 17 months in “God’s Waiting Room”, aka Good Samaritan Society in Waukon, Earl Francis Haas entered Heaven and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus September 9, 2022. It was his 87th birthday.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Good Samaritan Society in Waukon, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the ALS Foundation.

Earl Francis Haas was born in the Lycurgus township near Waukon September 9, 1935 to Viola (Knickerbocker) and Leo Haas. He and his seven siblings learned to work hard growing up on the family farm. He attended the two-room Lycurgus school and, after taking one year off to work, graduated from Waukon High School in 1955. He left home with $5 in his pocket to start his adult life.

Darrel Koozer

Darrel Dwayne Koozer, age 84, peacefully passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1704 Green Valley Road, Waukon. Service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a meal. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1843 Valley Street, Lansing.

Darrel was born January 30, 1938 to Royal and Florence Koozer in Geneva, NE. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served until 1975, becoming a Corpsman. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer.

Darrel married Janet Colene Brooks in 1956 and had five children. After he retired from the Navy, he drove semi trucks for various companies. He enjoyed mechanical work and woodworking, restoring old vehicles and making wood-themed clocks.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Florence Koozer; two brothers, Alvin and Harold; and his sister, Beverly.

Catherine Wagner

Catherine Cecelia Wagner, 82, of Lansing died  suddenly in her home Monday, September 5, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 10 at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment followed Mass at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.

Cathy was born November 22, 1939 in Winona, MN, the sixth child of Bernard and Elizabeth (Bratek) Cerney, Sr. She graduated from Cotter High School in 1957, and November 15, 1958 she married Clair Wagner at St. John’s Catholic Church in Winona. To this union 10 children were born.

After growing up in the river city of Winona, Cathy quickly adjusted to life in rural Allamakee County. Cathy and Clair were hard working, devoted parents who raised their family in the Catholic faith. She was one of Paul Horsfall’s first employees and also worked at Thornton Manor in Lansing.

Janice Keith

Janice Keith died August 10, 2022 with her family at her side. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Highway 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. A reception will follow.

Janice was born in Lansing March 13, 1938 to Carl and Rita Troendle. She married James F. Gaulrapp August 30, 1958 and Robert W. Keith August 11, 1994.

Survivors include eight children, Kimberely (Keith) Richardson, Walter Gaulrapp, Laurie DeLoach, Mary Gaulrapp, George Gaulrapp, Peter Tuan (Christine) Le, Angela Tien (Hanh) Chau and Thi (Hai) Le; eight step-children, Polly (Lee) Scotland, Kris (Bob) Schmitt, Sugi (Tim) O’Neil, Kent (Karen) Keith, Andy Keith, Alison (Tim) Rongitsch, Phoebe (Bob) Meyer and Peter (Bebe) Keith; one brother, Richard (Jan) Troendle; two sisters, Ellen Smith and Suzanne (Greg) Gilbertson; one sister-in-law, Freida Troendle; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dennis Regan

Dennis W. Regan, 75, of Waukon died Saturday, September 3, 2022 at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon with Fr. John Moser and Fr. Jerry Blake officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the church cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church Friday. Arrangements are being handled by Martin-Grau Funeral Home of Waukon.

Dennis William Regan was born November 17, 1946 in Waukon, the son of William “Bill” Maurice and Angela Mary (Schulte) Regan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon.

Dennis attended Lycurgus country school and graduated from Waukon High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1967, during the Vietnam War.
