Mary "Sis" Goltz

Mary "Sis" A. Goltz, 91, of Waukon died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 2 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.
Mary "Sis" Adele Goltz was born September 28, 1922 in Waukon, the daughter of Leonard Joseph and Hazel Elizabeth (Riley) Campbell. Sis was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. She attended St. Patrick Catholic School through the tenth grade and graduated from Waukon High School in 1940.
November 14, 1942 she married Dale Everett Goltz at St. Matthew Catholic Rectory in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Decorah for a short time before moving to Waukon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Delores McDowell

Delores Rosella Whalen Meighan McDowell, 92, of Cedar Rapids passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Solon Care Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 31 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial followed at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Delores was born August 30, 1921 on the rural Lansing farm of her parents, William Thomas and Agnes M. (Danaher) Whalen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church. Delores attended the Lycurgus Rock School and graduated from Waukon High School.
During World War II, she worked in a Waterloo factory to support the war effort. In 1945, Delores was united in marriage to Robert G. Meighan. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Joan Ann. Robert passed away in 1956. Delores lived in Cedar Rapids the remainder of her life. She worked at Iowa Steel and Penick and Ford.

Francis Delaney

Francis Joseph "Frank" Delaney, 73, of Wexford died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Thornton Manor, Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church-Wexford. Inurnment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery-Wexford.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 31 from 3-8 p.m. with a 3 p.m. Rosary and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing. There will also be a one-hour visitation before mass time at the church Friday.
Frank was born August 20, 1940 in Lansing to Patrick James “Jimmy” and Evelyn (Mullarkey) Delaney. He attended country school in the area and graduated from Lansing High School.

Velma Fink Mack

Velma M. Fink Mack, 94, of New Albin died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 2 at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in New Albin, with Pastor Kevin Smith and Pastor David Smtih officiating. Burial will be at New Albin City Cemetery, New Albin. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 1 at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is handling arrangements.
Velma Mildred Smith Fink Mack was born January 21, 1920 in Dorchester, the daughter of Wilfred and Myrtle (Burroughs) Smith. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Dorchester and attended the Dorchester School. Following her schooling, Velma did housekeeping for several area families.

Otto Nuehring

Otto L.A. Nuehring, 70, of Waukon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family from complications of acute myelocytic leukemia July 25, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30th, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Harold McMillan officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home.

Charles Wiedenmann

Charles Luther Wiedenmann, 84, of Monona,  passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Crossing Rivers Health Center, Prairie du Chien, WI. He was born August 13, 1929 to Charles P. and Clara (Frye) Wiedenmann on the family farm south of Monona. Charles was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona.
Charles was united in marriage with Jean Kolsrud June 3, 1950 at the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, Waterville. They made their home on the family farm, where they farmed for thirty-five years before moving to Monona. Three children were born to this union, Garry, Kent and Lori.
After farming, Charles worked in construction for many years and was an employee of the Shopping News for over twenty years. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran NALC Church in Monona, and also a board member of the Luana Co-op. His hobbies were woodcrafts and reading. He also took flight lessons for several years.

Lyndon Kubitz

Lyndon James Kubitz, 48, of New Albin, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Mayo Health System in La Crosse, WI. He was born February 3, 1966 to Richard and Teresa (Mitchell) Kubitz at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, WI.
Lyndon graduated from Caledonia High School in 1984 and Kaplan University earning his Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
Lyndon enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage with Wendy Hruska September 29, 2001 at St Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin.
Lyndon worked on the family farm in Jefferson Township, New Albin. He also worked at different factories, repaired computers and tutored online. He enjoyed computers, spending time with his children and family, cooking, making homemade ice cream and grilling.

Beatrice “Bea” Welch, 97, of Winona, MN, formerly of Waukon, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Winona, MN. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Patrick’s School (Waukon) Scholarship Fund, in honor of Bea’s strong belief in education.

Selma "Sally" Thorstenson McCulloch

Selma “Sally” L. Thorstenson McCulloch, 95, of Gastonia, NC went home to be with her Lord Jesus Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waukon, with Pastor Al Hermeier officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Selma “Sally” Luella Thorstenson McCulloch was born November 21, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Ida (Gjefle) Thorstenson. She was one of nine children raised on the Coonamen farm in Benson County, ND. Sally had a passion at a young age to become a registered nurse and graduated in 1944 from Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, IL. Up to her dying day she had a need to heal others.

Carole Goeke

Carole Goeke, 90, of Waukon died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Friends may call one hour before services at the church Wednesday, July 23. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
Ruth Carole Goeke was born May 10, 1924 in Newcastle, PA, the daughter of George and Rae Wolfe. She graduated from Newcastle High School in Newcastle, PA and attended Indiana State College in Pennsylvania.
In 1943 she married Kermit B. Ellingson in California, and he died in 1955. May 20, 1957 she married Wesley Goeke at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They owned and operated the Tastee Bake Shop in Waukon from 1957 to 1967.
