KNEI Radio General Manager Chuck Bloxham to present Memorial Day address in Waukon

Charles "Chuck" Bloxham, KNEI Radio General Manager and U.S. Navy veteran, will serve as featured speaker at the 2013 Memorial Day Observance Program being held at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon Monday, May 27. There will be Cannon Salutes to Korean War Veterans and Civil War Sesquicentennial Recognition that will include the live firing of a black powder cannon and a 12-pound Mountain Howitzer, respectively, by Allen, Linda and Noah Lyon of the 3rd Light Artillery, Waukon.

Ready for an Adventure?: Allamakee Driftless Safari to kick off Memorial Day

Area residents and visitors are invited to join Allamakee Economic Development and Tourism for a summer adventure exploring the historical, cultural and natural treasures of Allamakee County. The 2013 Driftless Safari program will run from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with 20 exciting places to visit and learn about.

First victory of the Kee baseball season will boost nation's all-time winningest coach Gene Schultz to career milestone of 1,700 victories

A look at high school baseball by the numbers at basically every level will reveal a consistent frequency of Kee High School listed either at or near the top of a great many statistical mountains. So, it should only stand to reason that the man leading that Kee baseball expedition each of the last 42 seasons on the way to those statistical summits should, himself, stand atop his own peak overlooking what has become his domain.

"Walk for Justice" event in Cedar Rapids this Friday observes five-year anniversary of Postville raid

Friday, May 10 a gathering commemorating the fifth anniversary of the immigration raid in Postville will take place in Cedar Rapids. The purpose of the event is to remember the 389 persons arrested May 12, 2008 and to advocate for reform of immigration policies.

4-H Citizenship Group travels to Washington, D.C.

Iowa 4-H’ers experienced United States history, national security, national diversity, National 4-H Center hospitality and more on their seven-day adventure to Washington D.C. A collection of 33 youth, 18 adults and four ISU Extension Staff from Allamakee, Howard and Winneshiek Counties departed northeast Iowa April 6 to participate in the 2013 4-H Citizenship Trip.
