Rubashkin released from jail

Former CEO at Agriprocessors Inc., Sholom Rubashkin, is back at his home in Postville after spending the last several weeks in a Dubuque jail. Rubashkin has been incarcerated since his arrest in November.

Judge Linda Reade, after hearing the case presented by Rubaskin's attorney Guy Cook Wednesday, January 28, ruled in his favor by granting his release contingent on several stipulations.

Representative Braley working to help Postville with recovery

United States Representative Bruce Braley of Waterloo met with several groups in Postville Thursday, January 29 to discuss the state of the City since the immigration raid and the filing of Chapter 11 bankruptcy by Agriprocessors, Inc. Braley represents Iowa's first district, including a small section of Postville.

During the two-hour meeting, Braley met with school officials, religious leaders, community leaders, business owners and managers, and city administration. The meetings took place at the YMCA in small groups which were facilitated by members of Braley's staff.

Big sister Grace would like to announce the arrival of her twin sisters, Ashlee Marie and Kennedy Kaye, born December 16, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Ashlee Marie weighed 7 lbs., 3 ozs. and was 19 inches long at the time of her birth. Kennedy Kaye weighed 6 lbs., 14 ozs. and was 20 inches long at the time of her birth. Proud parents are Chris and Dawn Barr of Hiawatha.

Grandparents are Russell and Sharen Roth and Conrad and Cindy Barr, all of Waukon. Great-grandmother is Lydia Gruis of Waukon.

Mark and Jill Lamborn of Luana are happy to announce the birth of their son, Jaxon Kenneth, January 20, 2009 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 8 lbs., 9 ozs. and was 21 1/2 inches long at the time of his birth. He was welcomed home by his brothers, Brock (6) and Blake (4), and by his sister, Avery (23 mos.).

Iselis to celebrate 50th anniversary February 1

Robert and Judy (Olson) Iseli will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary February 1. They were married February 1, 1959 in Lansing. An open house, hosted by their family, will be held Saturday, February 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Kerndt Brothers Community Center in Lansing.
