The next Allamakee County FSA Committee meeting will be held Tuesday, February 10 at the Allamakee County FSA office at 9 a.m.

The Allamakee County FSA Office has received money allocations for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) for the 2008 flooding. The county office is beginning to disburse payments. "Have a Heart Day" February 17 at VMH

Tuesday evening, February 17, Veterans Memorial Hospital will offer a free CPR class for adults age 50 and over in conjunction with the local "Have A Heart Day" celebration. This free CPR course for all adults age 50 and over will be held from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Large Conference Room on the lower level of Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Blood Center of Iowa to hold blood drive in Waukon Feb. 5

The next Blood Center of Iowa blood drive will be held Thursday, February 5, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus building in Waukon.

Blood drives are held the first Thursday of every month in Waukon to allow more donors to give. The Blood Center of Iowa supplies Veterans Memorial Hospital with its blood and blood products. Here are some interesting blood facts from the Blood Center of Iowa:

• Every three seconds someone needs blood.

• Blood makes up about eight percent of a person's body weight.

Denk, Willis joined in marriage in September ceremony

Nicole Marie Denk of Waukon and Daniel Dean Willis of Monona were joined in marriage September 20 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon with Father Joseph Schneider officiating.

The bride, given away by her grandfather, is the granddaughter of Donald and the late Gayla Denk of Waukon. Mother of the bride is Jill Reyes of Waltham.

The groom is the son of Frank and Laurie Henkels and the late Dean Willis of Monona and Bob and Cindy Bechtel of Decorah.

The parents of Megan Springsteen and Kurtis Smith are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their children. They plan to exchange vows February 28.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Teletha and the late James H. Springsteen and the granddaughter of Norman Rosendahl, all of Waukon. She is a 2006 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and is currently employed at Pinnacle Financial Group in Decorah.
