KHS Drama Department to present "Every Babysitter's Nightmare" this weekend

The Kee High School Drama Department's spring production is scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12 at the Kee High School gymnasium. This year's production is "Every Babysitter’s Nightmare," a comedy written by Craig Sodaro and published by Eldridge Publishing Co. The production will hit the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11 and again at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12. Admission will be paid at the door prior to each performance.

April 4 Bake Sale part of volunteer efforts to support Waukon HS Post Prom

The Waukon High School Post Prom Committee will be holding a bake sale Saturday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until gone) at three Waukon locations: Fareway, Quillin’s and Shopko (see advertisement on Page 7A). All proceeds raised by these bakes sales will benefit the Post Prom event April 25 for all students attending the 2015 High School Prom.
The Post Prom event will take place from midnight to 4 a.m. and is offered for all students attending the 2015 Waukon High School Prom. The Post Prom event is planned with the goal of getting as many students as possible to the celebration, keeping them safe following their Prom. Proceeds raised by the bake sale will help with the expenses of the event including games, food, prizes and the hypnotist that will be performing.

Kee High School Individual Speech tallies perfect scores at State

Kee High School Individual Speech members competed at the District contest February 28 at Nashua, where eight of the nine events advanced to the State competition held Saturday, March 14 at Starmont High School. The six Individual Speech members pictured above each competed at the District contest and include: Left to right - Front row: Cheldyn Stanley, Emily Benzing, MaKayla Manning. At the State competition, the Kee participants received the following ratings, including six perfect scores: Cheldyn Stanley - 1 rating in Poetry; Emily Benzing - 1 rating in Prose and Storytelling; MaKayla Manning - 1 rating in Prose and Expository; Ethan Walleser - 1 rating in Improv and 2 rating in Acting; Annika Stahl - 1 rating in Prose. Donations and volunteers sought for Waukon High School Project Prom 2015

Waukon High School Prom 2015 is scheduled for Saturday, April 25. Parents of the high school students are again hosting the annual substance-free Post Prom event at the former Waukon Junior High School gymnasium immediately following Prom, from midnight until 4 a.m.
Very strong past support from parents of the Waukon High School student body, as well as from local businesses and civic organizations, has resulted in the continued success of providing Prom-goers with a safe alternative for celebrating the annual event. That support has provided these young adults with games, food, entertainment and prizes at the Post Prom event each year.
Assistance is needed for the event in the following two areas:

Waukon High School FBLA Chapter claims championship honors at State Conference

The Waukon High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), under the direction of high school instructor Joan Schwartz, was crowned Chapter of the Year and won overall team championship honors at the annual State Leadership Conference held in Coralville Thursday-Saturday, March 12-14. Those team championship honors stemmed from an abundance of top-end individual and group finishes by chapter members in various competitions throughout the Conference. Further details about the Waukon chapter's championship efforts will appear in a future edition of The Standard.
