Photos may be included for an additional charge of $15 (additonal photos are also $15). Obituaries of excessive length (longer than our single-column length of 15.5") will also incur an additional charge of $11/column inch for the content measuring longer than our 15.5-inch column length. Gerald Kroeger

Gerald M. Kroeger, 78, of Tripoli died Monday, September 21, 2015 at Tripoli Nursing & Rehab in Tripoli. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, September 24 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner, with Rev. James Brokman officiating. Interment was at St. Joseph's Paint Rock Cemetery, rural Harpers Ferry.
Gerald Michael was born at home in Earlville January 18, 1937, the son of Hubert and Genevieve (McElmeel) Kroeger. He received his education at Independence Grade School and St. John's and Independence High School. From December of 1954 to October of 1957, he served with the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller on the U.S.S. Lexington II, and was stationed at Corpus Christi, TX. He was united in marriage with Ruth M. Hass July 5, 1983.

Todd Schmauss

Todd E. Schmauss, age 35, of Decorah, formerly of Cresco, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Regional Health Services of Howard County. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 26 at First Congregational Church in Cresco, with Pastor Tim Sir and Father Dennis Cain presiding.
Todd Eugene Schmauss was born May 17, 1980 in Cresco, the son of John and Nancy (Schoeberl) Schmauss. In 1998, Todd graduated from Crestwood High School, and he went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Fitness Management from Upper Iowa University. While attending Iowa Central Community College he was a junior college wrestling All-American. After college Todd played semi-pro football with the Rochester Giants.

Carol Stoen

Carol Stoen, age 74, of Decorah died Friday, September 18, 2015 at her home. Funeral Services were held Thursday, September 24 at Big Canoe Lutheran Church, Decorah, with Rev. Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial was at Big Canoe Cemetery.
Carol Marie (Nelson) Stoen was born October 1, 1940, the daughter of Edgar and Lenora (Tangen) Nelson. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1959 and married Darrel Stoen September 2, 1961 at Big Canoe Lutheran Church near Highlandville.
When Carol was first married she worked at Dr. Burg’s Orthodontist office in Decorah. She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up. Carol later went to work at the Super 8 Motel in Decorah and then worked at Walmart until retiring in 2003.

Clem A'Hearn

Clement "Clem" A. A’Hearn, 95, passed away peacefully September 26, 2015 at his home in Mesa, AZ. Funeral services were scheduled to be held Wednesday, September 30 at Mountain View Funeral Home in Mesa, AZ. Flowers, donations and condolences may be sent to Mountain View Funeral Home.
Clem was born April 14, 1920 in Waukon, the youngest of nine children to parents Joseph and Agnes A’Hearn. As a Navy Seabee, he served his country with honor in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Clem retired in 1982 after many years of service as a Sheet Metal Supervisor for the LA County Mechanical Department.

Robert Butler

Robert D. Butler, 80, of Waukon died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his home in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements for the family.
Robert Dale Butler was born October 14, 1934 in Marshalltown, the son of Dale and Maude (Harvey) Butler. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1953, and attended Coe College before serving in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War. After the service Bob attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

Lilah Kilpatrick

Lilahann D. Kilpatrick, 91, of Waukon died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Alzheimer’s research, education or a charity of choice.
Lilahann Dorothy Kilpatrick was born June 22, 1924 to Nels and Myrtle (Tangen) Opheim near Waukon. Lilahann attended rural schools through the eighth grade. In order to attend high school, she began living in a rented room in Waukon weekdays when she was only 14 years old. During high school, Lilahann took the courses required to get a teaching certificate.

Jason Neuman

Jason Robert Neuman, age 35, died September 6, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 10 from 3-7 p.m. at Good Fellas in Waukon. All are welcome.
Jason was born October 13, 1979 in Torrance, CA to Bruce and Karen Neuman. He lived in California until 1987, when he and his mom moved to Dorchester. Jason attended both Dorchester and Waukon schools. After high school he lived in various parts of the Tri-State area, and in two years in Austin, TX. Eventually, he came back to Dorchester, where he resided until the time of his passing.
Jason had many hobbies and passions. He was an avid collector of anything “Simpson” and Nintendo, he lived for music, and he enjoyed spending much of his time outdoors camping, hiking, traveling, fishing and canoeing. He was also a star in the kitchen, constantly crafting new creations for anyone to try. Jason had a beautiful soul, he was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be forever missed and loved.

Donald Dee

Donald LeRoy Dee, 79, of Lansing died Monday, September 14, 2015 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. A Memorial Service was held Thursday, September 17 at the United Methodist Church in Lansing, with Rev. Kevin Smith as the Officiant. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Donald was born May 13, 1936 to Leonard and Gladys (Wendel) Dee in La Crosse, WI. He graduated high school from Lansing High School in 1954. After high school Donald was drafted into the Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957.
Donald was united in marriage to Carol Stock March 14, 1959 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Three children were born to this union. He was a farmer and a dump truck driver. He loved spending time with his family.

Rosalie Weber-Halverson

Rosalie Ann Weber-Halverson, 77, of Lansing died Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Thornton Manor in Lansing after a brave battle with cancer. Private family services will take place at a later date.
Rosalie was born February 13, 1938 to Hebert and Rosalie (DuCharme) Spalla in Eastman, WI. She graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse, WI.
Rosalie was united in marriage with Robert Weber February 28, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeSoto, WI. To this union two children were born, Kimberly and David. Robert passed away in 1986. Rosalie was united in marriage to Harvey Halverson at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing in 1989.
Rosalie was a homemaker for her family and helped on the farm in Mays Prairie. She volunteered her time teaching children to bowl. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, bowling and playing the penny slots at Lady Luck Casino in Marquette.

William Kocian

William “Bill” Joseph Kocian, Sr., age 58, of Waukon passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. He spent his last moments surrounded by his family and loved ones. Family and friends remembered Bill Sunday, September 20 at the Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah.
Bill was born March 18, 1957 to Anna M. (Malec) and Rudolph L. Kocian in Pittsburgh, PA. He grew up a Pirates and Steelers fan, often times skipping school for opening day. Riding mini-bike and playing street hockey were some of his favorite activities.
