Doloris Beckman

Doloris E. Beckman, 86, of Prior Lake, MN, formerly of Waukon, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 in St. Louis Park, MN. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services at the church.
Doloris Esther Beckman was born March 3, 1929 in Waukon, the daughter of Otto and Esther (Hansmeier) Kosbau. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Beckman of Prior Lake, MN, and many nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Noah Dietrich

Noah John Dietrich, infant son of Daren and Jenny (Harberts) Dietrich of Decorah, was stillborn Monday, March 16, 2015 at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Family graveside services were held Saturday, March 21 at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe serving as the officiant.
Survivors include his parents; his paternal grandmother, Jane Dietrich of Waukon; his maternal grandparents, Deb Harberts of Decorah and Mark (Rose) Harberts of Elgin; an aunt, Darcy Dietrich of Bloomington, MN; an uncle, Jeremiah (Bethany) Harberts of Denver; his cousins, Paige, Natalie, Alyssa and Kesli Harberts; and his maternal great-grandmother, Merelyn Harberts of Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Duane Dietrich; his paternal great-grandparents, Velmer and Alice Copp, and Erwin and Gladys Dietrich; and his maternal great-grandparents, Russell John Harberts, Elwyn Shimp, and Bill and Mary Ann Pfister.

Roland Burroughs

Roland E. Burroughs, 92, of Waukon died Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home. Funeral services were held Monday, March 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.
Roland Ephriam “Sonny” Burroughs was born November 8, 1922 at the rural Dorchester home of his parents, David and Mary (Moeller) Burroughs. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s, Dorchester Catholic Church and attended school in the Dorchester area. After his schooling he worked as a farmhand for various people in the area before purchasing a farm on Bear Creek.

Rick Smith

Rick D. Smith, 66, of Waukon died Friday, March 13, 2015 at his home in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family with arrangements.
Roderick Dale Smith was born August 10, 1948 in New Albin, the son of Kenneth William and Lyla Vivian (Solberg) Smith. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, MN and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon.
Rick graduated from Waukon High School in 1968. He served in the United States Air Force from 1969 until he retired in 1989 as a Tech Sergeant. July 20, 1996 he married Theresa Ryan at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah. He worked at Deco Products in Decorah for many years.

Shirley Foels

Shirley A. Foels, 69, of Waukon died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, WI. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, March 17 at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, with Rev. Gary Catterson and Pastor Steve Oden as the Officiants. Interment was held in the Postville Cemetery.
Shirley Ann, the daughter of Roger Leland and Jean Shirley (Crawford) Sampson, was born May 29, 1945 in Clovis, NM. She was dedicated September 16, 1945 at the Decorah Lutheran Church and confirmed November 1, 1959 at the Frankville Presbyterian Church. In May of 1980, Shirley asked Jesus to become her Lord and Savior and she was baptized August 22, 1980.

Leona Troester

Leona Maxine Troester, 88, of Monona died Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Great River Care Center, McGregor. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 14 at the Rossville Presbyterian Church, Rossville, with the Rev. Gary Catterson officiating. Burial followed at the Monona Cemetery, Monona.
Leona was born December 1, 1926 in rural Monona to Ray and Hazel (Frink) Rush. She was baptized and confirmed at the Rossville Presbyterian Church in Rossville December 25, 1938. Leona attended Jefferson Township Country School until it closed. She then attended school in Waukon, graduating from Waukon High School with the Class of 1947.

Larry Smith

Larry D. Smith, 68, of Dorchester died Monday, March 9, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Jim Dubert and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.
Larry David Smith was born August 28, 1946 in Waukon, the son of Milburn and Vivian (Reinhardt) Smith. He attended Forest Mills Country Schools in the rural Postville area and Postville High School. After high school he worked for some local farmers. Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1966 before he was medically discharged.

Edith Feuerhelm

Edith L. Feuerhelm, 98, of Postville, formerly of Waukon, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden and Rev. Gary Catterson officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Edith Lenette Feuerhelm was born September 14, 1916 in Waukon, the daughter of Leonard James and Martha Jane (Barthell) Bulman. She was baptized at Mt Hope Presbyterian Church in rural New Albin and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. Edith graduated from Waukon High School in 1934.
June 22, 1936 she married Charles Arthur Feuerhelm in Lansing. She was the bookkeeper for Feuerhelm Mfg. in Waukon for many years. Edith moved to Postville in the early 1990s.

Richard Schmit

Richard H. “Dick” Schmit, 78, of Bartonville, IL passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 10:14 a.m. at Heddington Oaks in West Peoria, IL. Mass of Christian Burial was held February 26 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria, IL, with Father Terry Cassidy officiating. Entombment took place in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria, IL.
Dick was born February 24, 1936 in Bernard, the son of the late Cyril and Rosabella Otting Schmit. He honorably served for 18 months in the United Sates Army in Korea during peacetime. September 22, 1979, Dick married Joyce A. Kerker Stroemer at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville, IL.
Dick worked as an insurance salesman for the Knights of Columbus and for I.S.I. He previously was on the disaster services team for the American Red Cross.

Michael Andregg

Michael Everett Andregg, 57, of Sioux Rapids passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at his home. A private celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date. Michael was born October 6, 1957 to Otto and Betty (Townsley) Andregg in Wichita, KS. He grew up in Waukon and graduated from Waukon Senior High School with the Class of 1976. He remained in Waukon and worked at Northern Engraving until taking a position with Agriprocessers in Postville and then, most recently, with Rembrandt Industries in Sioux Rapids. In his positions he worked as a maintenance machinist. He was very mechanically inclined. In 1984, he married Tina Stone and they had a daughter who died in infancy. They eventually divorced. Mike will be remembered for his distinctive laugh, his big heart and his kindness to everyone. He loved hunting, fishing and his dog, Bubba. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Otto Andregg; his mother, Betty Andregg; and his daughter, Nicole Andregg.
