Photos may be included for an additional charge of $15 (additonal photos are also $15). Obituaries of excessive length (longer than our single-column length of 15.5") will also incur an additional charge of $11/column inch for the content measuring longer than our 15.5-inch column length. Elsie Weymiller

Elsie E. Weymiller, 98, of New Albin passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Thornton Manor Nursing Center, Lansing. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4 at St. Peter’s Christian Community Church in New Albin, with Pastor William Reese officiating. Burial followed in St. Peter’s Memorial Cemetery, New Albin.

Elsie was born January 30, 1918 in Winnebago Township, MN to August and Alvina (Wiegrefe) Fruechte. Elsie attended grade school in Eitzen, MN and graduated from Caledonia High School. She then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Elsie taught school several years at the New Albin School and then the Bee School.

June 23, 1946, she married Emil Weymiller, and he preceded her in death June 19, 1980. Together they owned and operated the D-X Gas Station in New Albin for many years.

Diane Foels

Diane (Snitker) Foels, 65, of Postville died Tuesday May 24, 2016 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Services were held Saturday, May 28 at Zalmona Presbyterian Church, Waukon. Burial was held at Smith Cemetery in rural Postville.

Diane, the daughter of Merlin and Jean (Kugel) Snitker, was born July 3, 1950 at the Postville hospital. She was baptized and confirmed at Zalmona Church in Waukon. She graduated from Postville High School. Diane ran the Craft Book Nook for 10 years. She then worked at Monona Wire for two years, Postville Ford for 10 years and finished her career at Tindell Shoes in Postville for five years.

Diane was united in marriage to Tennis Lee Foels June 2, 1995 at Zalmona Church in Waukon. She has two sons, Brian (Eva) Olson and Bruce (Erika) Olson. Tennis and Diane celebrated 20 years of marriage. They enjoyed Ranger rides along the creek, spending time with family and road tripping to eat at different hot spots.

Mary Peters

Mary Ann Peters, 76, of Lansing was welcomed into God’s heavenly home June 1, 2016 at her home in Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 4 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Inurnment followed at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.

Mary was born January 2, 1940 to Robert and Della (McKee) Reed in Lansing. After graduating high school, she worked in Cedar Rapids at a radio station, then moved to La Crosse, WI and worked as a nanny.

In 1960, Mary became the wife of Robert Peters and fulfilled the role of mother and Marine Corps wife. During this time, she stayed busy with four children, Debi, Dale, Denise and Donna. Mary served 35-plus years as a Girl Scout leader and over 40 years as a religious education leader in New York, North Carolina and Iowa.

Darwin D. Melcher, age 66, of Decorah died Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his home in his sleep of natural causes. Darwin's family invites all relatives, friends and neighbors to join them to celebrate, share stories and toast to the life of Darwin this Saturday, June 11 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Elks Club, 402 West Main Street in Decorah.

Charles Teeter

Charles “Chuck” M. Teeter, 68, of Decorah died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Visitation be will one hour before services at the funeral home Saturday. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Waukon.
Charles Marcus Teeter was born December 3, 1947 in Blue Earth, MN to Marcus and Marguerite (Fiddler) Teeter. He grew up in McGregor and Monona, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and building model airplanes.

Chuck lived life to the fullest. His fondest memories were spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed pontooning and fishing on the Chippewa Flowage near their home in Hayward, WI. His love of model airplanes continued into adulthood and he flew his planes in several competitions.

Robert Fredrickson

Robert K. Fredrickson, age 89, died May 29, 2016. Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at North Shore Congregational Church, 7330 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Bob was born October 4, 1926 in Lansing to the late Adolph and the late Alma (nee Berg) Fredrickson. He served in the United States Navy with sonar training on the USS Gainard in World War II. Bob graduated from the University of Iowa in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in commerce. He was self-employed as a sales representative for a company he began in 1976, until his retirement.

Bob is the dear dad of Robert C. Fredrickson. He is further survived by good friends.

Edgar Brainard

Edgar M. Brainard, 81, of Waukon died Friday, June 3, 2016 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 7 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, rural Postville, with Rev. Gary Catterson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery in rural Postville.

Edgar Maurice Brainard was born April 20, 1935, the son of George and Eva (Smith) Brainard in Postville. He was baptized and confirmed at Postville Presbyterian Church in Postville and attended Evergreen Country School and graduated from Postville High School in 1953. Edgar served with the National Guard in Oelwein, Company D 133 Infantry, for six years.

January 27, 1957, he married Shirley Ann Stock at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in rural Postville. They lived near Postville and in 1958 they moved to Shirley's parents' farm in Ludlow Township which is a Century Farm.

Elsie Weymiller

Helen Kelley

Helen M. Kelley, age 81, of Faribault, MN passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, MN following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, May 27 at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, MN. Interment was held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault, MN. The family prefers that memorials be directed to IRIS, Infants Remembered In Silence, in memory of Helen.

Helen Marguerite, the daughter of Emmet and Irene (Bresenahan) Dougherty, was born November 7, 1934 in Harpers Ferry. She attended St. Patrick’s High School in Waukon and graduated with the Class of 1952.

November 12, 1957 she was united in marriage to Mark Francis Kelley at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waukon. Helen worked as a computer operator at an accountant’s office and later worked for 15 years in the accounting office for KGP Logistics. Mark preceded her in death September 20, 2009.
