Brother Leo Ryan, CSV awarded honors on national and international business stages

Waukon native Brother Leo V. Ryan, CSV has been the recipient of three international and national honors since July 2012. Brother Ryan is the son of the late John and Mary Ryan and the brother of Liz Hart of Waukon.

Mosaic celebrating 100 years; Local event scheduled for February 18

Beginning in February, Mosaic will celebrate a milestone anniversary of 100 years. Their centennial celebration, titled "A Century of Service, A Legacy of Love," will kick-off with an organization-wide celebration with staff and individuals they serve in 38 locations across 10 states.
Mosaic was formed July 1, 2003 by the consolidation of two Nebraska-born Lutheran ministries dedicated to the needs of people with disabilities. Bethphage began in 1913 in Axtell, NE and Martin Luther Homes began in 1925 in Sterling, NE.

Local dentists offer free dental care during "Have a Heart" Day scheduled for February 9

For 23 years in a row the doctors and staff of Waukon Dental, Dental Associates of Decorah, P.C., Family Dentistry Associates of Monona, and Dental Associates of Prairie du Chien (celebrating 19 years) have hosted their “Have a Heart” Day. Area residents are encouraged to participate in the annual “Have a Heart” Day scheduled by area health care providers for this Saturday, February 9.

ACED presents "Win a Billboard" marketing contest for members

Allamakee County Economic Development (ACED) is hosting a marketing contest for all of its members. One grand prize winner will be selected and receive a free billboard in a major metropolitan area of their choice (ACED to pay up to a $1,500 value).
The contest is open to all ACED members, including municipalities, utilities and business entities. Businesses and individuals may join ACED to enter the contest, but membership must be paid by the contest deadline of Friday, March 1.

Waukon Chamber of Commerce seeking nominations for variety of honors to be awarded at its annual meeting

The Waukon Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations from community residents for a variety of new awards to be bestowed at the Chamber's annual meeting scheduled for February 22 this year at the Waukon Banquet Center. In addition to the traditional Person of the Year honoring awarded each year, the Chamber will also bestow awards this year for Years of Service, New Business of the Year, Business of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Public invited to discuss importance of the Mississippi River to the Iowa, Midwest economy at Feb. 5 session held in Davenport

Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) is encouraging area residents to participation in a dialogue with Governor Terry Branstad and other State of Iowa leaders Tuesday, February 5 in Davenport about the importance of the Mississippi River to Iowa and the midwestern economy. The discussion is taking place from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Hotel Blackhawk in Davenport.
