Listening Post held by Wilhelm, Hager well attended

State Senator Mary Jo Wilhelm and State Representative Bob Hager enjoyed a large turn-out at their first “listening post” meeting of this legislative session in Waukon Saturday, February 5 at Gus and Tony’s Pizza and Steakhouse. Topics of discussion included funding for preschool and education, the proposal to require photo identification for voting, conservation and Governor Terry Branstad’s proposed budget.

St. Patrick's Day Parade March 13

The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Waukon has been scheduled for Sunday, March 13. The event will begin at 1 p.m. All the usual activities involving food, music and fun are expected to take place again following the parade.

Quillin's Foods reaches agreement with Festival Foods to sell two La Crosse, WI locations; No changes for remaining stores

Quillin's Foods and Festival Foods have announced that Festival Foods will buy two Quillin’s grocery stores located in LaCrosse, WI at the Village Shopping Center (2500 State Road) and in the Shelby Mall (3954 Mormon Coulee Road).
Quillin's Foods officials say there are no further changes planned for any of the five remaining Quillin's locations, including Quillin's Food Ranch in Waukon and Quillin's Food Center in Decorah, which intends to complete renewal of an agreement for its current leased location in Decorah's Centrum Plaza in the very near future.

Upper Explorerland and ISU Extension to share office space at Decorah location

Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission (UERPC) and Iowa State University (ISU) Extension announce the co-location of their offices. ISU Extension will be relocating its Winneshiek County office to the facility currently housing UERPC in Decorah.

Waukon Dental making plans for 21st Annual "Have a Heart Day"

The doctors and staff of Waukon Dental, Family Dentistry Associates of Monona, Dental Associates of Decorah and Dental Associates of Prairie du Chien announce that they will be holding “Have a Heart” day again this year. Area residents are encouraged to participate in the annual “Have a Heart” day scheduled by area health care providers Saturday, February 12.

Waukon Feed Ranch continues growth in expansion location

A concept that got its start five years ago came to realization this past year for Waukon Feed Ranch, as its new multi-function expansion facility located less than a mile west of Waukon on Old Highway 9 enjoys its first year of operation. The new facility is coming off its first fall harvest season and anticipating its first spring planting, all while working toward the ideal of "providing the best service to farmers and customers", according to manager Brad Herman.

Snowmobile route through Waukon to change Feb. 1

Upon suggestion by the Allamakee Sno-Blazers Snowmobile Club, the Waukon City Council gave its approval at its January 17 council meeting to a revised snowmobile route through the town of Waukon, effective February 1. According to Allamakee Sno-Blazers Vice President Brandon Fahey, the revised route is simplified from the previous one and will be clearly marked prior to its February 1 effective date. The new route still complements an existing route that provides a by-pass alternative to snowmobiling through Waukon.
