Bruce and Janet Larsen of Lansing announce the engagement of their daughter, Athena Larsen, to Lance Porter, son of Greg and Lisa Porter of Leon. The couple lives in Winterset and plans to exchange vows June 27 in Lansing.
The bride-elect is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. She is currently employed as a Constituent Service Specialist with Senator Charles Grassley.
The groom-elect is a graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy. He is currently employed as a Soil Conservationist at the Natural Resource and Conservation Service.

Alberta Troendle of Lansing will be celebrating her 98th birthday March 11. In celebration of the occasion, cards and well wishes may be sent to her at 1329 Main Street #315, Lansing, IA 52151. A family celebration was also held Sunday, March 8 with Mass and a potluck meal.
Alberta was married to Joe Troendle for 71 years when he passed away in 2009. They are the parents of 12 children, including John Troendle, Gerald Troendle, Alice Clemments, Elizabeth “Betsy” Shew, Ann Delaney, Monica Monserud, George Troendle, James Troendle, Mary Ann Kelly, Joseph Troendle, Jr., Lucille Hilleshiem, and the late Victor Troendle, who died in infancy. They also have 41 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Ashley and Randy Welch of Ossian announce the birth of their son, Francis Robert Welch, February 2, 2015 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. He weighed 8 lbs., 4 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a sister, Sophia.
Grandparents are Arnold and Shirley Zezulka of Dorchester and Margaret and the late Robert Welch of Lansing. Great-grandparents are Evangeline and Robert Schellsmidt of Caledonia, MN.

Ben and Stephanie Ross of Waukon announce the birth of their son, Jules Orin Ross, February 16, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 8 lbs., 5 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a brother, Felix (2).

Bryce Dahlstrom and McKayla O’Hare of Decorah announce the birth of their son, Brayden Earl Dahlstrom, February 14, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 7 lbs., 13.8 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of his birth.
Grandparents are Christy Stone and Brad O’Hare, both of Waukon, and Patty Dahlstrom and Al Peterson of Lansing. Great-grandparents are Ray and Karen O’Hare of Waukon and Dave and Charlotte Fish of Waterville.

Marshall and Leah Lange of Garnavillo announce the birth of their son, Leigh Gordon Lange, February 10, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 6 lbs., 14 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of his birth.
Grandparents are Trent and Leslie Henkes of Luana. Great-grandparents are Glenda Henkes, Kathleen Lange and June Freilinger, all of Monona.

Joanne Larson of Waukon announces the engagement of her son, Eric Larson (father Ralph Larson, deceased) to Gloria Herrera, daughter of Venansio and Isidra Herrera of Tulare, CA. The couple plans to exchange vows in Tequila, Mexico March 1.
The groom-elect is a 1993 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 1997 University of Northern Iowa graduate with a degree in Business Management. The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Fresno State University with a Business Information Systems degree. Both reside in Aliso Viejo, CA and work for the Capital Group Companies located in Irvine, CA.
 

Chelsea Stone and Jason Behel, both of Marion, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows February 21 at the Royalton Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Tim and Wendy Stone of Waukon. She is a 2007 graduate of Kee High School and earned an associate of science degree from Kirkwood Community College in 2009. She graduated from ECPI University in Virginia Beach, VA in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2012. She is currently employed as a corrections officer at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.

Kari Schildroth of La Porte City and Lance Murphy of Waukon were joined in marriage November 1, 2014 at Hickory Hills State Park in La Porte City. A reception was held following the ceremony at The Supervisors Club in Waterloo.
The bride is the daughter of Ed and Wanda McFarland of La Porte City and the late John Schildroth of Reinbeck. She is a 2011 graduate of Allen College with a bachelor of science degree in Nursing. She currently works as a labor and delivery/postpartum nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
The groom is the son of Brian and Sue Murphy of Rossville. He is a 2014 graduate of Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Architectural Technology and currently works at Novak Design Group in Cedar Rapids as an associate architect.

Leo and Mary Lou Garin of Lansing will be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary February 15. Leo Garin and Mary Lou Troendle were married February 15, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing by Msgr. Henry Sharphoff.
The couple has six children, including Bob (Lori) Garin, Dick (Shally) Garin, Ray (Aggie) Garin, Dennis (Lois) Garin, Janelle (Dave) Kazimour and U.S. Air Force Chief Cheryl Garin. They also have 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
