Jay and Leslie Elsbernd of Decorah announce the birth of their daughter, Marian Judy Elsbernd, December 20, 2014 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 8 lbs., 4 ozs. and measured 23 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Claire (15 months).
Grandparents are Steve and Patty Elsbernd of Ridgeway and Craig and Ellen Cutting of Decorah. Great-grandmother is Alyce Reid of Waterloo.

Sweeney, Curtin to wed Dec. 31

James and Margo Sweeney of Waukon announce the engagement of their daughter, Gina Rae, to Jeremy Curtin, son of Ron and Gail Curtin of Waukon. The couple plans to exchange vows December 31 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. A reception will be held following the ceremony at Oneota Golf and Country Club in Decorah.
The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Finance and Economics. She is currently employed at Fisk Farm and Home in Monona.
The groom-elect is a 1999 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 2002 graduate of Kirkwood College  with an associate’s degree in Marketing and Management. He is currently employed at Tri-State Doors in Waukon.

Keith and Jean Ann Mason to celebrate 70th anniversary

Jean Ann (Gleisner) and Keith W. Mason were married January 1, 1945 upon his return from Italy during WWII. Bitter cold that day, Jean Ann wore a powder blue wool suit and gardenia corsage.
They have made their home in Waukon for most of their 70 years of marriage and have raised five children (Randy, Shirley, Norman, Bill and Linda). They have six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Everyone is invited to an open house in honor of Eula Thies’ 100th birthday Saturday, December 27 at Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Waukon from 1-3 p.m. She requests no gifts.
