Wellness Fair moved to February 6 to help kick off Wellness Challenge

The Live Healthy Iowa Kick-Off Wellness Fair scheduled for January 30 has been rescheduled to February 6 due to the winter weather. Veterans Memorial Hospital and the Waukon Wellness Center is encouraging the community to participate in Live Healthy Iowa, a well-rounded statewide wellness program, and will offer various wellness events throughout the 10-week program.

Nominations sought for Allamakee County Dairy Banquet set for March 23

The 2013 Allamakee County Dairy Banquet will be held Saturday, March 23 at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. The meal will be served from 7-8:30 p.m., with the program starting at 8 p.m. The annual celebration recognizes the importance of the dairy industry in Allamakee County and the contributions dairy families make to this important industry.

Monday evening accident injures pair

Two Waukon residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday, January 28 just before 7 p.m. on Old Highway 9 near Bluebird Road, just west of Waukon. In its initial report, the Iowa State Patrol explained that Andrew Lawson of Waukon, age 27, was traveling east on Old Highway 9 in a Jeep Cherokee Sport when it crossed the center line and collided with a westbound Honda Accord driven by Barbara Shull of Waukon, age 35.
