Vet Clinic moving to new home after 2004 fire

Over the weekend volunteers and staff of the Postville Vet Clinic moved into their new building on Hyman Drive in the Postville business park. Above Bill Christofferson, Dr. Larry Moore, Dave Monroe, and Dr. Ken Weston arrange new shelving. Below are all the people who helped make this move in one weekend, working late into Saturday evening. Just as it did during the day of the fire last March, business went on at the vet clinic. The phones were answered and customers were served even on moving day.

The Postville Herald-Leader and local participating merchants are putting together some "love"ly and "heart"felt gifts for you and your sweetheart in this year's Valentine's Day Give-Away.

Basketball Hawks follow victory with back-to-back losses

The Kee boys basketball team started the week off on the right foot with a 46-42 victory against MFL/Mar-Mac Tuesday, Jan. 25. It took the Kee Hawks a while to adjust to MFL's game plan, therefore, the Hawks remained behind for most of the game. In fact, it wasn't until a few minutes into the fourth quarter that Kee really started to creep closer to the lead.

Roepke and Garin Exchange December vows in San Antonio

Lois is the daughter of Julius and Verna Mae Steffen of Luxemburg. Dennis is the son of Leo and Mary Lou Garin of Lansing.
      The bride was given in marriage by her father during 4:00 pm. ceremony at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
      Maid of honor was Ashley Roepke. Bridesmaids were Rachael Schroeder and Jennifer McMahon.
      Best man was Ryan Garin. Groomsmen were Adam Roepke and Lee Schroeder.

Annual Nightcrawlers Forever Benefit being planned for Feb. 27

      The Nightcrawlers Forever committee is planning for the annual potluck benefit to be held Sunday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m., with an auction to be held at 2:30 p.m.. This year's event will be held at a new location, Milty's on Main St. in Lansing.
      The committee is once again seeking contributions from area businesses and individuals in an attempt to make the annual event another success this year. Those contributions may be in the form of a cash donation or merchandise donation, as raffle prizes are also needed for this event.

Community "Tasting Fair" this Saturday in Lansing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

      GROWN Locally, a cooperative of fourteen farmers in the local area, is inviting the community to a Tasting Fair at the Kerndt Brothers Bank Community Room, 391 Main Street in Lansing, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 5. At the Tasting Fair, community members will be able to taste many of the products raised by these local growers, including vegetables, apples, berries, baked goods, chicken, turkey, pork, beef, eggs and honey.

Bus trip to Garden Expo

Winneshiek County Master Gardeners will be sponsoring a bus trip to the Garden Expo at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI Sunday, Feb. 13. Participants can walk through the custom garden display, attend demonstrations and seminars, and view the different exhibitors.
