St. Patrick School to host 5K run/walk

St. Patrick School will be hosting a 5K walk/run Saturday, April 17 in Waukon. The event will be open to community members of all ages and is being hosted not only to promote healthy lifestyles but also to encourage positive ecology choices.

Allamakee Dollars for Scholars Board of Directors Alumni Scholarship deadline is April 23

This is the fifth year for the alumni scholarship instituted by the ADFS Board of Directors. The award is made to a WHS graduate who participated in ADFS while in high school and received an ADFS award as a graduating senior.  The scholarship is available for college sophomores or higher level students who been out of high school two years.
The ADFS Board feels it is important to continue the encouragement to ACSD graduates as they continue their education, not just as they start their post-high school program.

Area students participate in district Invention Convention

Eight students from East Elementary and Waterville Elementary participated in the district Invention Convention in Elkader February 16. These students completed a process that included identifying a problem, figuring out a solution for that problem, and making a new product that incorporated that solution. 2010 inductees into WHS Chapter of National Honor Society

A total of 26 Waukon High School juniors were inducted into the local chapter of the National Honor Society at the chapter's annual induction ceremony held Tuesday, March 16 at Waukon High School. Waukon Junior High and High School art students display at Effigy Mounds

Waukon Junior High and High School art students under the instruction of Judith Engle and Julie Alden exhibited artwork at Effigy Mounds National Monument as part of the parks Winter Film festival.   Student artwork was on display over the weekend of March 5-8.
Participating students from Waukon Junior High included Katie Kerndt, Anna Weighner, Mary Melcher, Ethan Decker and Baily Rissman in seventh grade, and Marcus Weymiller, Brooke Grotegut, Kullan Kling, Taylor Sholes, Sierra Frielinger, Seth Snitker, and Tyler Hosch in eighth grade.
