John R. Hogan, 80, of Lansing died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 14 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, both in Lansing. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 13 from 4-8 p.m. at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing, where there will be a scripture service at 8 p.m.

Viola V. Berger, 92, of the Milwaukee, WI area, died peacefully at her residence at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa, WI Saturday, October 10, 2009 after a brief illness. Visitation will be Thursday, October 15 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m., all at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Eternal Life mausoleum at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Jelacic Funeral Home of Milwaukee, WI is entrusted with the services.

Morris R. Schellhammer, 87, of Waukon died Friday, October 9, 2009 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 13 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Laura Gentry officiating. Burial will be held in Lansing Ridge Cemetery, rural Lansing.

Kenneth L. Jeide, 69, of Waterville died Monday, October 5, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 8 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Rev. Marie Paterik officiating. Burial with graveside military rites was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Robert William Middendorf, 79, of Solon died Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Services were held Friday, October 9 at Brosh Chapel in Solon with Reverend Scott Meador presiding. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.

Maxine M. Thorstenson, 84, of Waukon died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at her home in Waukon, with her family at her side after a 15-month courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Friday, October 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Maxine Thorstenson of Waukon died Saturday, October 3 at her home. Arrangements are pending with Martin Funeral Home of Waukon.

Regis Foley, 91, of Waukon died Friday, October 2, 2009 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.

Cecelia Teeling Howes, 102, of La Crosse, WI, formerly of Waukon, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Monday, October 5 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.

William F. Betsinger, age 66, of Lansing died Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Kenyon Sunset Home in Kenyon, MN following an extended illness. Graveside services were held Monday, October 5 at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing with military honors.
