Margaret Stella Regan, 89, of Waukon passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 21 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon, with Father Jim Dubert and Deacon Mike Ward officiating.
Casketbearers were Ken Hennings, Scott Van Gorp, Bill Van Gorp, Greg Ward, Gary Ward and Bob Ward. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.

Wayne K. Knudtson, 69, of Waukon died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, September 23 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery, Rossville.
Wayne Kermit Knudtson was born July 11, 1944 in Waukon. He was the son of Floyd Clifford and Norma Orletta (Severide) Knudtson. Wayne was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. He attended the rural "Emmett School" in Union Prairie Township and graduated from Waukon High School.

Helen Mary Thimmesch, 102, of New Albin died Monday, September 16, 2013 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Albin, with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Interment followed at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery located in New Albin.

Willard J. "Billy" Roe, 81, of Waukon died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 21 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial with military honors was at Old West Paint Creek Cemetery, rural Waukon.

Verdayne Arnold Melbostad, age 79, of Spring Grove, MN died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Tweeten Healthcare in Spring Grove, MN. Funeral services were held Saturday at Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church in rural Spring Grove, MN. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Pastor Allen Hermeier officiating.
Verdayne was born July 4, 1934, the son of Arnold and Amy (Olson) Melbostad at the Spring Grove hospital. He was baptized July 29, 1934 and confirmed May 30, 1948 at Waterloo Ridge. He graduated from Spring Grove High School May 28, 1952.

Donald D. Angel, 83, of Waukon died Monday, September 9, 2013 in Waukon following an accident. Memorial services were held Tuesday, September 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden and Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Ruth Magdalene (Swain) Hughes, 88, of Janesville, WI passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. A celebration of her life will be held at First Congregational Church in Janesville, WI Saturday, September 28 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Wesley Bixby officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Synod Church in rural Waterville.

Mary Virginia “Ginny” (Hayes) Collins went to be with the Lord September 6, 2013, after a courageous battle against cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Ginny was born April 20, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Tom and Mabel Hayes and was a granddaughter of Waukon residents Michael and Mary Devitt. She graduated from Ascension Grade School, Trinity High School and Oak Park Nursing School, creating lasting friendships along the way.

Ruth N. Haas, 86, of Waukon died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, September 16 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Memorials may be made in memory of Ruth to St. Patrick School or Good Samaritan Center, both in Waukon.

Gordon “Gordie” E. Hansmeier, 86, of Waukon died Monday, September 2, 2013 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 5 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Gordon Elmer Hansmeier was born August 20, 1927 on his parents' farm in Jefferson Township, rural Waukon, the son of Elmer "Joe" and Ruth (Sherman) Hansmeier. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1946.
