Richard E. Woodbury, 74, of New Albin, formerly of Waterloo, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his brother’s home in Waterloo. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29 at the Kearns Funeral Service, Kimball Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. Military rites will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138, VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail.

Shirley N. Benson, age 73, of Grand Meadow, MN, formerly of Nashua, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 22 at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, with Shannon Lindeland, Lacey Priebe, Jamie Pingel, Michelle Lechtenberg, Melissa Martin and Nicole Dreckman serving as pallbearers.

Victor Joseph Buresh, age 94, of Saratoga died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Evans Home in Cresco. Funeral services will be Friday, August 30 at 11 a.m. at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Saratoga Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.

Jackie Clauson, nee Kolkau, of Lombard, IL died August 12, 2013. Committal Service was held Saturday, August 24 at Waterloo Ridge Cemetery, rural Dorchester.
Jackie was born April 30, 1924. She was a member of Sons of Norway and the Moose Lodge.

Lorna Jean Kruger Ashbacher, 88, of Waukon died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, August 26 at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon, with Pastor Sue Klimstra officiating. Burial was at Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salem United Church of Christ or the Women’s VFW Auxiliary.

Willard F. Kerndt, 86, of Waukon died Friday, August 23, 2013. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 27 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial was at Lansing Ridge Cemetery, rural Lansing.
Willard Fremon Kerndt was born November 5, 1926 in Waukon, the son of Leslie W. Sr. and Irene (Gruber) Kerndt. He was baptized and confirmed at the church in Church, attended Center #2 rural school and graduated from Waukon High School in 1944. Following his schooling, Willard began farming with his dad and brothers.

Colleen K. Bakewell, 64, of La Crosse, WI, formerly of Waukon, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Lighthouse at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Friday, August 23 at the Bethany Riverside Chapel in La Crosse, with Fr. Donald Bakewell officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 22 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial with military rites was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted the family with arrangements.

Gene O. Watson, 91, of Waukon died Monday, August 19, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services are pending with Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Donald L. Shelton, 69, of Waukon died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Mayo Health Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
