NCAA Tournament update

Road to the final four is paved

With another exciting weekend of basketball history, the Road to the Final Four has been decided. What excitement? Three overtime games (one double overtime) in the four-games as Illinois, Michigan State, Louisville and North Carolina will be vying for the National Championship in the next few days. Those of us with Big Ten Loyalites are strutting a little prouder this week as Illinois and Michigan State both fought their way to the finals and Wisconsin just missed a trip falling to North Caroline by six after being tied at halftime.

Highlights from the Senate

Spring arrived this past week, but that event did not improve the climate in the legislature. The optimism we began this session with has faded as the evenly divided Senate approaches gridlock. In spite of this, discussions are occurring. The important issues will be debated and a budget will be approved.

Letter to the Editor

Dear friends,

I don't know if you are ever interested in articles that have been published elsewhere, but this article was sent to me by my cousin, Wayne Schams, Taiwan. He submitted the article to The New American, and it was published there. The dairy farm he refers to in his article is the Jim and Cathy Gelo farm-Postville. He gave me permission to submit it to my area newspaper, in case they would be interested in publishing it. His perspective of middle America is both heartwarming and uplifting.
