Next Euchre Marathon is March 16

The Auxiliary of Veterans Memorial Hospital will hold its next monthly Euchre Marathon for all individuals of the community Wednesday, March 16. Anyone is welcome to attend, even if you are not an Auxiliary member.

The Auxiliary’s Euchre Marathons are held each month in the meeting room of the M&M Café on Rossville Road. The marathons begin at noon with lunch, if you chose. Card playing will start at 1 p.m. and go until approximately 3 p.m. Cost is $3 per person with all proceeds going towards the Auxiliary. Prizes will be awarded.

It can also include funeral preparation information, the name of your designated executor, and plans for organ donation, child care, and guardianship.

Mullarkey, Andersen will exchange vows this spring

Megan Kay Mullarkey, Des Moines, is engaged to Jeffrey John Andersen, also of Des Moines. She is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Kay Mullarkey of Des Moines and the granddaughter of Vince and Dorothy Mullarkey. Jeffrey is the son of Guy and Marsha Andersen III, also of Des Moines.

Both attend the University of Iowa where Megan is working on her masters degree in library and information science and Jeffrey is finishing his second year of law school.

A spring wedding is being planned.

Hennessys welcome baby daughter

Andy and Leah Hennessy would like to announce the birth of their second child, a daughter, Sarah Marie. Sarah was born Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Winneshiek Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces.

Sarah joins an older brother, Joseph, age 2.

Twins for Paul & Miriam Skrade

Paul and Miriam Skrade of Decorah welcomed a set of twins Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Annalise Blom was 7 pounds, 5 ounces at birth while her brother, Daniel Blom, weight 6 pounds, 5 ounces.

Grandparents are Jeff and Cilla Skrade of La Crosse, Wis., and Phil and Sue Blom of Neenah, Wis. Great-grandparents are Laurel Peters of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Gene and Harriett Skrade of West Salem, Wis.

Baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church

Anna Bolson’s infant son, Jay Michael, was baptized by Pastor Laura Gentry Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. For the event, Jay wore a baptismal gown over 80 years old that was worn by many of his family members, including his mother and grandmother. Pictured from left to right are Brett Bolson, uncle and sponsor, Anna and Jay, Pastor Laura Gentry, and grandparents Chris and Daryl Bolson.

Halverson & Martin welcome son

Denver Halverson and Summer Martin of Decorah have been blessed with their second child, a son, Keltan Lynn. Keltan was born Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Winneshiek Memorial Hospital. He weighed 9 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long.

Keltan joins a proud sister, Lilly Stephanie, age 2.
