Milton and Evelyn Staggemeyer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family celebration at The Stoney Creek Inn in Onalaska, Wis.

Milton Staggemeyer and Evelyn Wenig were married Feb. 20, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Dorchester, Iowa.

The couple has four children, Jean (Greg) Rea, Brad (Kris) Staggemeyer, Julie (Neal) Luttchens, and Mark (Cathy) Staggemeyer. They also have 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Florence Roffman celebrated her 99th birthday Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005. She currently resides at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Her family celebrated the occasion with an afternoon get together with cake, ice cream, and cookies.

During the celebration, an all-female five generation photo was snapped. Pictured below are (front, from left) great-great-grandmother Florence Roffman and great-grandmother Betty Denner. In back is grandmother Lisa Reicks, holding her granddaughter Aubrie Dewes, and Aubrie’s mother, Kristi Dewes.

Dickson- Steve and Michele Dickson wish to announce the birth of their son, Cullen Paul.
Cullen was born Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Winneshiek Medical Center. He was 8 pounds, 6 ounces at birth.
Cullen joins an older brother, Andrew Carl, age 5.
Grandparents are James and Shirley Stortz and Arden and Brenda Dickson.

Great-grandparents are Howard Dickson and Fay Wilson.

Jennifer Mitchell and Joshua Houdek were married at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev.

Jennifer is the daughter of Terry and Ellen Mitchell of Sioux City and Joshua is the son of Kim and Brenda Flatjord of Waukon and Mike Houdek of Burr Oak. Grandparents of the groom are Lester and Betty Stahl of Waukon and Marvin and Ann Houdek of Burr Oak.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, carried a bouquet of peach miniature calla lilies.

Stacy Tweten and Brian Egan were united in marriage July 10, 2004, at Burr Oak Lutheran Church, Burr Oak. Pastor Hans Floan officiated the ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Wayne and Arletta Tweten of Canton, Minn., and John and Debbie Egan of Waukon.

The bride’s personal attendant was Beth Whited.

Matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Wendy Baker. Bridal attendants were Toni McCabe, sister of the bride; Amy Courtney, cousin of the bride; Stacy White; Donna Vsetecka; and Dacia Hendrickson, daughter of the bride.

The Boer is an indigenous breed of meat goat from Africa. The name is derived from the Dutch word "boer" meaning farmer and was probably used to distinguish the native goats from the Angora goats which were imported into South Africa during the 19th century.

The South African Boer registry was established in 1959. Since 1970 the Boer goat has been incorporated into the National Mutton Sheep and Goat Performance Testing Scheme making it the first goat breed involved in meat production performance testing.

Brintnall-Peterson, a University of Wisconsin-Extension specialist on aging, said a recent national survey of school principals believe grandparents are important to a child's success in school. Perhaps, you can help give that needed boost to your grandchild (or any child) to help them finish out the school year.

Ms. Peterson lists some strategies grandparents can use to help their grandchild.

Nearly 140 farmers will serve on commodity advisory committees to the Iowa Farm Bureau in 2005. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Lang appointed the farmers from throughout the state to the committees to discuss issues affecting their commodities.

The committees will make recommendations to the IFBF board of directors for possible action.
