Allamakee County voters elect new faces to County positions; Support of Bob Hager not enough to return him to Iowa House of Representatives

Although close in many regards, Allamakee County voters didn't necessarily follow the trend of nationwide or statewide results all the way through the Tuesday, November 6 General Election. With 6,927 voters representing a 71.5% voter turn-out for this year's election, that percentage was a bit higher than the previous presidential election participation of 70% from 2008's day of choice but still lagged behind the 2004 General Election participation level of 77%, according to information from the Allamakee County Auditor's Office.

Allamakee County voters choose new leadership

Allamakee County voters made their voices heard in the November 6 General Election, with nearly 4,000 ballots cast on election day and over 3,000 absentee ballots submitted in the weeks before the election for a voter turnout of 71.5% of the county's 9,686 registered voters.

The Veterans Memorial Hospital Health Care Foundation’s Christmas Fantasy 2012 will be held this weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 9-12, at the Allamakee Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. The theme will be “Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas.” In addition to the numerous, record-breaking number of Christmas trees, this year's event will again offer many shopping opportunities on the silent auction.

Norplex-Micarta selected as first Cloy Kuhse Positive Impact Award recipient by ACED

The Allamakee County Economic Development (ACED) Board of Directors have chosen Norplex-Micarta of Postville as the first Cloy Kuhse Positive Impact Award winner. Announcement of the inaugural presentation of the annual award was made at the ACED Annual Banquet in September.
