Two area young ladies are vying for the crowns of the first-ever Allamakee County Cattlemen's Association Beef Queen and Beef Princess this Saturday, November 3. The coronation event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Association's Purple Ribbon Prospect Sale being held at Northeast Iowa Sales Commission north of Waukon. A pair of Waukon High School juniors, Lexie Bieber and Carli Quandahl, are the lone candidates vying for this year's inaugural Beef Royalty honors. Their biographies are printed below:

Lennie Burke: My name is Lennie Burke and I have been married to Linda for 39 years. We have four married children and 11 grandchildren. We have owned and operated Wings Supper Club in Dorchester for 11 years and are small family farmers. We are members of St. Patrick Parish family and have called Allamakee County home all of our lives.

Voters will be heading to the polls Tuesday, November 6 for the 2012 General Election, with a wide variety of races being contested across the country at all levels of government. Polling information for Allamakee County is published to the right on this page.

The Kee volleyball team's Class 1A Regional Tournament semifinal match with third-rated Tripoli scheduled for this Friday, October 26 has been moved from its original location of being at Tripoli to now being played at Postville. The Hawks will battle with the Tigers beginning at 7 p.m.
