Main Street Lansing honored at State ceremony

Main Street Lansing was bestowed with the honor of conducting the Retail Event of the Year at the 27th annual Main Street Iowa Awards celebration held Friday, May 2 at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in downtown Des Moines. Main Street Lansing's 2013 “Main Street Madness” promotion earned the honors by bringing in $157,500 in retail sales during the four weeks leading up to Christmas 2013, tripling the result of the promotion from the previous year.

Friday afternoon accident near Harpers Ferry claims life of Cincinnati, OH man

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Emergency Dispatch Center received a report of a single motor vehicle accident with entrapment Friday afternoon, May 2 at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Luster Heights Road near Harpers Ferry. The ensuing report explained that the lone occupant of the vehicle, 37-year-old Randall Litschgi of Cincinnati, OH, was transported from the scene of the accident to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.

Annual Family Wellness Fair set for May 14 at Veterans Memorial Hospital

The 17th annual Family Wellness Fair will be held Wednesday, May 14 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Health testing, exhibits and activities will all be providing a complete evening of entertainment and education for families of all ages. Everyone from all area communities is welcome to attend this free event, sponsored by Veterans Memorial Hospital, and held in conjunction with the end of the Live Healthy Iowa Community Wellness Challenge.
