The grandstand entertainment at the Allamakee County Fair continues to set the stage for up and coming country music acts on stage, as the 159th Allamakee County Fair will feature a pair of rising Nashville stars during its July 18-22 running this year.

The Primary Election results from Tuesday, June 5 in Allamakee County indicate change in a couple elected positions within the County's governing system. All contested races in this year’s Primary election were on the Republican ballot in Allamakee County, with no contested races on this year's Democratic ballot making for very low turn-out numbers among voting Democrats.
Overall voter turn-out was reported at 28.06% in Tuesday's election by the Allamakee County Auditor's Office.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday Monday, May 28, the regular meeting of the Allamakee County Board of Supervisors for last week was held Tuesday, May 29. The Board met again on its regular meeting day and time Monday, June 4.

The June 5 Primary Election results indicate change in a couple Allamakee County elected positions. All contested races in this year's Primary election were on the Republican ballot in Allamakee County.
With a pair of current Allamakee County Sheriff Deputies vying for the office of Allamakee County Sheriff, which is open due to current Sheriff Tim Heiderscheit not seeking re-election, Clark Mellick garnered 64.2% (1,533 votes) of the voters' support to win the Republican nomination for the office over John Grampovnik, who received 35.8% (855 votes) of the vote.

The Allamakee County Dairy Promotion Board would like to invite the public to the Annual Dairy Days Parade, which will be held in Lansing Monday, June 4, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The parade will start at Kee High School, travel through downtown on Main Street and end up back at the high school.

Tuesday, June 5 will be the Primary Election to determine which candidates will be representing their respective political parties in the 2012 General Election in November of this year. A sample ballot of the respective races in both the Republican and Democratic parties was published in the May 23 issue of this newspaper, listing races at the federal, state and county levels for voters to make their selections in.
A listing of polling sites for all 11 of the county's precincts was also published in that May 23 issue. Election polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.

Grampovnik: I was born in Waukon May 24, 1970 to Jack and Judy Grampovnik. My parents moved to Lansing in 1969 where my dad accepted a teaching position with the Eastern Allamakee School District. My parents both worked in the field of education until they retired in 2010.
