Waukon area business has its "designs" on customer service

Designs Inc. opened for business near Waukon in December, 2008, offering design and printing services, and most recently received a First Dollar visit from the Waukon Chamber of Commerce. Owner Kristi Fletcher attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, MN, where she earned a four-year bachelor of fine arts degree.

One arrest made after investigation of Sunday morning vehicle thefts

Sunday, September 5, at approximately 4:34 a.m., the Allamakee County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a vehicle being stolen from the Sportsman's Motel along Highway 76 near Dorchester. At approximately 4:44 a.m., Allamakee County Sheriff Deputies met the described vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 76 about four miles north of Waukon.

Investigation of meth lab leads to charges against Waterville, Lansing men

Thursday, August 26, the Allamakee County Sheriff's Office investigated a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory within a vehicle located at 568 Dry Hollow Road, rural Waterville. Numerous items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were seized during the investigation.

Burglary investigation recovers stolen items

Wednesday, August 25, the Allamakee County Sheriff's Office recovered numerous items during an investigation of burglaries and thefts in Allamakee County and in Crawford County, WI. The items were discovered during a search of the property located at 1668 South Road Drive, Lansing and included power tools, hand tools, air compressors and a John Deere lawn tractor.
The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending. Assisting in the investigation are the Crawford County, WI Sheriff's Office, New Albin Police Department and Lansing Police Department.

Robey Memorial Library to host "Smart Investing" program starting Sept. 28

Robey Memorial Library in Waukon will launch the “Smart investing @ your library” program from 6:30- 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 28 at the library. The last face-to-face session of the series will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 26. In between, participants will have the opportunity to work at their own pace online and using library materials specifically purchased for these classes. Farmers Market Customer Appreciation Day Sept. 13

The Allamakee Farmers Market will celebrate a successful season during its Customer Appreciation Day set for Monday, September 13. The Market meets weekly Mondays at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Customers who purchase at the market will have a chance to win door prizes. For every dollar spent, customers will receive a ticket toward the drawings and must be present to win. The drawings will be held throughout the market. Coffee, cider and homemade cookies will also be served to customers.

Third Annual Big Pumpkin Contest set for September 27

The third annual Big Pumpkin contest has been scheduled for Sunday, September 26 in Waukon. The event, which takes place at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds, will begin with weigh-in at 9:30 a.m., with those big pumpkins being on display that day and this year’s winners being crowned at a 12:30 p.m. awards ceremony.
