OUTSTANDING YOUNG DAIRY FAMILY AWARD

Named Allamakee County Outstanding Young Dairy Family was Douglas and Peggy McNally.

This family has worked with dairy cattle for eleven years, purchasing their first cattle in 1993. Throughout the years, the herd has progressed to the current 400 cows. The cows are milked three times a day in a double ten parallel parlor with a herd average of 21,500 pounds of milk, 791 pounds of fat and 718 pounds of protein. The herd is fed a total mixed ration in four separate groups. The majority of cattle are AI bred with heifers being contract raised off the farm.
