Initial Main Street Iowa visit generates goals, ideas

Debi Flanders and Tim Reinders, two staff members of Main Street Iowa, made their first visit to Lansing Thursday, March 8 as part of an initial assessment of Lansing's new designation as a Main Street Iowa community. During their visit, they spent time reviewing the Main Street Lansing office, going on a walking tour of the downtown area, and then having a lunch meeting with Main Street Lansing board members.

Once a new town is selected as a Main Street community, as Lansing was earlier this month, one of the first things to happen is a visit by members of the Main Street Iowa organization. Two Main Street Iowa staff members will be in Lansing Thursday, March 8 to train the Main Street Lansing board members, get to know the downtown area, and talk with local businesses and community members.

Rep. Bob Hager to host Town Hall meeting in Waukon this Saturday

Representative Bob Hager of Dorchester will be hosting a Town Hall meeting this Saturday, March 10 at the senior citizen meal site at the Waukon Wellness Center. That meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the public is invited to attend and discuss area issues with Representative Hager.

DNR holding public meetings, taking public comment on fall hunting, trapping regulations

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hosting public meetings Tuesday, March 6 to discuss possible changes in the hunting and trapping regulations for this fall. The changes would affect deer and waterfowl hunters as well as hunters and trappers who pursue bobcats and otters.
