Virginia M. Knuppe, 75, of New Albin died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, New Albin.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 26 at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin, where there will be a 4 p.m. scripture service and a 5:30 p.m. VFW Auxiliary service. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joshua Thomas Hagensick, age 24, of Monona passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 after a courageous life-long battle against the odds. A celebration of Joshua’s life was held at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home in Monona Saturday, February 23.
He was born April 28, 1988 in Prairie du Chien, WI to Christine Gjetley and Duane Hagensick. Joshua graduated from MFL/MarMac High School, Monona in 2007.

Darlene M. Sickels, 77, of Dickens, formerly of Waukon, died Monday, February 18, 2013 at her home in Dickens. Funeral services were held Monday, February 25 at Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Pastor Dale Hodges officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Darla Rae Niemann, 49, of Waukon passed away from cancer Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her sister’s home in Mount Vernon. Funeral Services were held Saturday, February 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, with Rev. Steve Brackett as the Officiant. Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.

Dorothy M. Wedeking, age 85, of Decorah, formerly of Waukon, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. Memorial Services were held Saturday, February 16 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with Pastor Samantha Houser officiating.
Dorothy Mae (Hurd) Wedeking was born December 20, 1927 at home in rural Clarksville, the daughter of George and Ruby (Wamsley) Hurd. She graduated from Clarksville High School with the Class of 1945. She then worked at the creamery and canning factory in Clarksville.

Leo J. Carter, 83, of Waukon died Monday, February 18, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 23 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was held at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Darla Niemann, 49, of Waukon died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her sister’s home in Mount Vernon. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, with Rev. Steve Brackett as the Officiant. Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery, Postville. Visitation will be from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, February 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Francis George Hofschulte, age 82, of Lake City, MN passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 22 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa, MN with Father Joseph Fogal officiating. Burial will take place at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery with Military Honors by Mazeppa Veterans Honor Gaurd.

Rita G. Troendle, 94, of Lansing died Friday, February 15, 2013 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February 18 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing. The Rev. John Moser was the celebrant. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.
Rita was born June 15, 1918 in Lansing to Gustave and Gertrude (Dee) Schulze. She attended Lansing Public School through the eighth grade.

Earl J. Kerker, 89, of East Dubuque, IL passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at The Finley Hospital, surrounded by his family. A Christian Memorial Service was held Saturday, February 16 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Dubuque, with Rev. Jon Gaul officiating.  The Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, IL assisted the family.
