John Ernest Smith, D.V.M, 88, formerly of Wadena, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon. An open house for family and friends to celebrate John’s life will be held at the Garden View Assisted Living Community in Monona from 2-4 p.m. Friday, February 22.  Family will gather for burial of cremains at Hillcrest Cemetery in Volga at a later date.

Carlton H. Larsen, 79, of Waukon died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in rural New Albin, with Pastor Paul Burgess officiating. Burial with military rites will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 13 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Kenneth M. Ewing, 87, of Waukon died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, February 11 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial with military rites was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is handling arrangements.

Earl W. Lumley of Lansing died January 13, 2013 in Phoenix, AZ, where he enjoyed spending the winters for almost 50 years. At his request, there was no service. He was cremated.
Earl was born August 26, 1915 in LaCrosse, WI,  the oldest of four children born to William and Elise Moser Lumley. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dennis Joseph Quillin of St. Peter, MO, formerly of Waukon, died Monday, February 4, 2013 from complications following heart surgery. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, February 9 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in St. Peter, MO.

Clarence G. Henry, Sr., 86, of Camanche passed away peacefully at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton February 8, 2013. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, February 12 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Camanche VFW. Pallbearers were Grant Henry, Gene Dickinson, Joe Henry, Lou Kracuin, Jr., Scott Dickinson and Tate Tiesman.

At 93 years of age, Mildred Zeller, our beautiful mother, mother-in law, grandmother and great-grandmother quietly passed January 29, 2013. There is a quiet peace and tender sadness that surrounds her family as we say goodbye to this remarkable woman.
Services were held Tuesday, February 5 at the Hopcroft Funeral Home in Madison Hts., MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Frances K. Cole, 91, of rural Lansing died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 12 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Paul Burgess officiating. Burial was at Mays Prairie Cemetery, rural Lansing.

James Edward “Jim” Ewing, 95, of Postville died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Funeral Services were held Saturday, February 9 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, with Rev. Gary Catterson officiating. Burial followed at the Postville Cemetery, Postville with Military Honors.
