Waukon Lions Club Variety Show to take place March 31

The Waukon Lions Club 23rd  Annual Variety Show will be held Saturday, March 31 at the Waukon High School Auditorium. Doors for the event open at 6 p.m., with performances beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank, Waukon State Bank, Fidelity Bank, Hartig Drug, Elliott Jewelers, Krambeer’s Barber Shop, or from any Waukon Lions Club member.

St. Patrick's Day Parade Sunday

The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Waukon has been scheduled for this Sunday, March 18. The event will begin at 1 p.m. All the usual activities involving food, music and fun are expected to take place again following the parade.
Veterans Memorial Hospital Nursing Council and Healing Hearts Infant Loss Support Group will be selling brat or hotdog meals at the WW Homestead Dairy parking lot, where the parade entries will be lining up. All proceeds will benefit Project Playground for new playground equipment near the Thompson Shelter in Waukon City Park.

Robey Memorial Library to host Pajama Party

Robey Memorial Library in Waukon will host a Dr. Seuss Pajama Party Thursday, March 15 from 6-8 p.m. Scheduled readers are Kirk Snitker, who will be dressed as Cat in the Hat, and Ann Hagensick.
Everyone is welcome to attend for storytelling and fun. An adult must accompany all children, and all are reminded to wear their pajamas.

Lenten Breakfast events being held each Thursday

The Women’s Lenten Ecumenical Breakfast events are being held each Thursday during Lent. All women in the area are invited to attend these events taking place during the Lenten season. The Lenten breakfast events will begin at 6:45 a.m. with breakfast, followed at 7 a.m. with a program.
The Thursday, March 8 Lenten breakfast will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church. Lori Hesse will be the featured speaker, and her topic will be “Opportunities On Our Journey”.
The Thursday, March 15 breakfast will be held at Zalmona Presbyterian Church.

Waukon Inn receives First Dollar certificate

Bob and Tracy Kubitz, who purchased the Waukon Inn on Rossville Road in January, recently received a First Dollar Visit from the Waukon Chamber of Commerce. Northgate Care Center named to Best Nursing Homes in Iowa list

Northgate Care Center in Waukon has been named to the U.S. News and World Report’s Best Nursing Homes in Iowa list. Northgate is one of nine senior housing facilities owned by ABCM Corporation of Hampton to make the list.
These nine homes include Rehabilitation Center of Allison in Allison, Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Westview Care Center in Britt, Dumont Wellness Center in Dumont,  Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, Westview of Indianola in Indianola, Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Manor House Care Center in Sigourney and Northgate Care Center in Waukon.

Veterans Memorial Hospital starts new year off with "solid" January

The Veterans Memorial Hospital (VMH) Board of Trustees met Tuesday, February 21. New board member Kevin Hanson was introduced to the staff in leadership capacity at VMH.
