Waukon High School FBLA chapter claims second-place honors at State Convention

March 27-29, a total of 71 members of the Waukon High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled to Coralville to compete in the State Leadership Conference. The students competed in various business-related tests against other schools in the state.

WHS and ADFS to present Class of 2014 Senior Awards Program

The Senior Awards Program for the Class of 2014 at Waukon High School (WHS) is scheduled to be held in the high school auditorium Tuesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. All students, parents, families and community members are invited to attend the event.
Allamakee Dollars for Scholars and many community groups will present awards to members of the WHS Senior Class that evening. In addition, honors and achievements by WHS Class of 2014 members will be recognized.

"Reality 101" event hosts nearly 200 graduating seniors from area schools

Nearly 200 graduating seniors from Postville, Kee, MFL/MarMac and Waukon high schools attended “Reality 101” at the Waukon High School Wednesday, April 9. Over 80 individuals and businesses volunteered their time to create a real life financial scenario for all of these students preparing for graduation.

Applications being accepted until April 15 deadline for Allamakee Dollars for Scholars Alumni Scholarship

The year 2014 marks the ninth year for the alumni scholarship instituted by the Allamakee Dollars for Scholars (ADFS) Board of Directors. The award is made to a Waukon High School (WHS) graduate who participated in ADFS while in high school and received an ADFS award as a graduating senior.

Ashfall author Mike Mullin to address ACSD Honors English classes Friday

Recently, The Hunger Games and Divergent have emerged as popular fiction, both in movies  and on bookshelves around the world. Another recent trilogy in the genre, Ashfall, is set in Cedar Falls during and after a Yellowstone Supervolcano.  Ashfall author Mike Mullin will be sharing his insights with Honors English students at Waukon Junior and Senior High Schools this Friday morning, April 4. Friday night, Mullin will be headlining an event open to the public at Dragonfly Books in Decorah from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Waterville Walking School Bus begins Thursday

The Walking School Bus provides a safe, fun and active way for students to get to school. Both in-town and out-of-town students are encouraged to participate in the Walking School Buses, which will make a return appearance in Waukon later this spring and will also be starting in Waterville this Thursday.
