Waukon High School conducts lockdown for student, staff safety

Tuesday, November 5, Waukon High School conducted a lockdown of classrooms and offices for approximately 15 minutes. The Waukon Police Department, in conjunction with the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department, entered the school to question an individual they thought could be a possible threat to the school's students or staff members.

Final Walking School Bus of the season taking place this Friday

The Allamakee Community School District (ACSD) Walking School Bus invites area school families to join its growing participation for one more walk this fall scheduled for this Friday, November 15. Interested families and volunteers should meet at 7:45 a.m. at the playing field one block north of East Elementary School near the ACSD bus barn along Fifth Street NW in Waukon. Routes lead to East Elementary, West Elementary and St. Patrick School. The Walking School Bus provides a safe and fun way for students to get to school.

Louis Nguyen of Waukon High School selected for 2013 All-State Chorus

Louis Nguyen, a senior at Waukon High School, has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2013 All-State Chorus. He is the son of Lori Reyes of Waukon and is a vocal music student of Adrienne Gerst at Waukon High School.

Waukon High School to present "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"

The Waukon High School Music and Drama departments will be presenting "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Waukon High School Auditorium as this week comes to a close. The production will be presented Thursday and Saturday, November 7 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and again Sunday, November 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets for this production can be reserved by calling Shelly Lydon at 563-568-3650 or by e-mailing WaukonMusical@live.com. "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is the biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors.

St. Patrick students take field trip to Pinter's Pumpkin Patch

The fifth grade and Junior Kindergarten classes from St. Patrick School in Waukon visited Pinter's Pumpkin Patch near Cresco for a field trip in late September. Fifth grade students are partnered with Junior Kindergarten students during the school year and the field trip was an opportunity for building relationships between the students in each grade level.
