Live Healthy Iowa offers K-12 Cup Challenge for Iowa Schools

Live Healthy Iowa and Live Healthy Iowa Kids unveiled a new opportunity in 2013 to build a culture of wellness in Iowa schools. The K-12 Cup Challenge was designed to increase adult and student participation in the 10 Week Wellness Challenge offered by Live Healthy Iowa, a program of the Iowa Sports Foundation.

Golden Eagle training and field trip event scheduled for January 11

The National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN and the Decorah Public Library are co-sponsoring a training and field trip event for those intersted in learning more about Golden Eagles. Scott Mehus, Education Director at the National Eagle Center, will be the featured presenter at the Saturday, January 11 training event being held in the upstairs meeting room in the Decorah Public Library, with a field trip then being planned along the Upper Iowa River heading toward the Mississippi River.

NICC receives Iowa Department of Education Intermediary Grant

Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) has received an Iowa Department of Education grant to support the development and implementation of a statewide network that prepares high school students for the workforce. Iowa’s 15 community colleges each received a portion of the $1.45 million in grant funding to develop 15 regional work-based intermediary networks.

ACSD Board of Directors holds monthly meeting

The Allamakee Community School District (ACSD) Board of Directors met Monday, November 18 for its regular meeting. Prior to the start of the meeting, ACSD Superintendent Dave Herold presented former board member Greg Byrnes with a plaque to thank him for his two years of service to the school district.

Allamakee County 4-H hosts annual Awards Program

The annual Allamakee County 4-H Awards Program was held Sunday, November 3 in conjunction with the 4-H Soup Supper at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. The evening program was planned and conducted by members of the 4-H County Council, Youth Development Committee, and ISU Extension and Outreach Allamakee County staff. The Elon PMC and Ludlow Future Farmers 4-H Clubs helped serve at the event.
