Iowa producers should consider reporting their 2000 crops to the local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office as they complete spring planting, according to Bob Soukup, State Executive Director for the USDA Farm Service Agency.
The acreage reporting requirements depend on what FSA programs a farmer participates in. Soukup said crop acreage reports are required in the following situations:
Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acreage must be reported.

Kylee Marie Hager was born Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Drew and Sarah Hager of Waukon. At birth, Kylee weighed 6 lbs., 14.5 oz.
Grandparents to the baby girl are Lee and Kymm Hinkel and Jack and Denise Hager, all of Waukon. Great-grandparents are Richard and Kathryn Hinkel of Marquette and Don and Marlys Pfeiffer of McGregor.

Born to Allen and Susan Kisling Monday, May 22, was an 8 lb., 6.5 oz. baby girl, Madison Jean. The infant is the sister to Jon, age 12, Chris, age 10, and Adam, age six. The family resides in Luana.

Will celebrate 45-year anniversary of vows with friends and family

Chuck and Fran Luther of Waukon, married June 14, 1955, will soon celebrate 45 years of marriage. In recognition of the milestone, an open house and dinner, hosted by their family, has been planned Sat., June 10. Those who wish to join in the celebration should join at the former site of Martin Brothers Furniture, located on Allamakee Street in Waukon, at 6:30 p.m.

Brandy O’Brien of Letts and Jeremy Strub of Waukon wish to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
Brandy is the daughter of Linda and Bill Yost of Letts and the late L.B. O’Brien. She is a 1993 graduate of Louisa-Muscatine High School, Letts, and a 1997 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. She currently lives in Waukon and works at Veterans Memorial Hospital as the nutrition services supervisor.

Once a person retires, they must keep up with their exercise, incorporating it as part of a new daily routine. Just because seniors don't have to go to work anymore does not mean they no longer must exercise. In fact, it's more important now than ever.

Tuesday's regular meeting of the Veterans Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees was characterized by lengthy, somewhat disappointing discussion.

Sanness -
Elizabeth A. Sanness, 28, of Spring Grove, MN, has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, first offense.

Paramount among issues for discussion at recent Allamakee County Board of Supervisors meetings has been a final decision on the employee health insurance provider.
Though bids were let several weeks ago, bid comparisons and comprehensive discussion between the board and its insurance advisory committee has delayed a final decision until recently.
Specifically, bids were submitted by Leschensky Insurance Agency in cooperation with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the county's current carrier, and Epoch, a Kansas-based company, in cooperation with the CARE Provider Network.

Currently running for the District #16 Republican senatorial seat are Dave Duncklee, Waukon, and Mark Zieman, Postville. The two candidates seek to replace Lyle Zieman, due to retire pending the end of his present Senate term. As both are Republicans, just one of the candidates will progress past the June 6 primary. Helen M. Shaw, 72, of McGregor, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, WI, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 19, at Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in McGregor, with subsequent burial in National Cemetery in rural Garnavillo.
